Game 13 - Matt Mish Leads South Park To Game 1 Victory

South Park jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one half inning of play and starting pitcher Matt Mish kept the defending champions off the board until they scored a meaningless run in the seventh. South Park leadoff batter Anthony Monaco worked a full count to start the game before drawing an HBP. Luis Gonzalez would single to put two on and a Zac Stern single turned into a bases clearing three run lead as the right fielder charging on the ball missed and it rolled to the fence. Mish would then take charge on the mound, scattering five hits and walking none while fanning eight Quinn Construction batters. The score remained at 3-0 until the top of the seventh when a leadoff single by South Park's Josh Peremba and a one out single by Anthony Monaco put two on. Gonzalez would then belt a triple deep to the right center gap to score Peremba and Monaco and give South Park all the insurance it would need. Mish would work out of a little jam in the bottom of the seventh. Bert Kovalsky led off with a single and then a blown double play with and error would put runners on the corners. Mish would induce a pop up for out number one bringing Quinn veteran slugger Terran Senay up. Senay would just miss and fly out to deep center, scoring Kovalsky and making two outs. Mish would then strike out South Park's biggest nemesis for the last twelve years, Jimmy Pasquine, to end the game. Corry Ryan took the loss for Quinn Construction as he worked five and two thirds innings with four strikeouts. Gonzalez and Stern lead South Park with two hits each. Quinn Construction got a pair of hits from Devin Matey. Quinn Construction will look to stay alive in defense of their title at 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at South Park's Evans Field.
