Win Streak Halted At 7 Games
The Toronto Cardinals continued to show why they are the class of the MSBL as they beat the second place York Diamonds 8-4 at 9th Line on Sunday night. Lefthander Kevin Horton who had been injured for the past few seasons rekindled his old dominance of the Diamonds twirling 8 innings while striking out 7. Owen McLaughlin went five innings for York and was hurt by some "interesting" defense.
Dennis Hucal, Fil Vazzano, and Ryan Wakelin each had two hits for the Cardinals. York was led by Steve Foley who had two long hits, including a home run. Rick Yez had his first hit of the season, a double blasted to left field, and John Raddi pitched 3 shutout frames and made a great play covering first base. Eric Foley and Owen McLaughlin also had two hits apiece.
Next game is a rare Wednesday night tilt at Keelesdale versus the Cardinals. The first 1000 fans will receive DVD's of skipper Paul Freeman's new self-help series entitled "Go To Your Happy Place Without Telling The Umpire To Get His Head Out of His A--".
