South Bay Storms back from 12-2 deficit to win in 10, 19-14
For the first four innings, the "Storm" was a light sprinkle at best, falling behind 12-2. A change in the defensive positioning seemed to bring some lightning into the Pasadena area as the Storm kept chipping away to pull within three heading into the seventh. Padre pitcher Whitaker put the top of the Storm down easily in the top of the eighth to hold the lead. In the top of the ninth, the Storm rallied for 4 runs to take the lead, led by key hits from Rick Guardino, Mike Ivy, Jack Cargerman, and Derek Rigaud. Randy Little and Carlos Garibay came through in the clutch to drive in the tying and go ahead runs. The Padres then got a key two out double to drive in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings. In the top of the tenth, Mike Risch singled to start the inning, and was then driven in by an Ivy SF to give the Storm the lead. After a few more hits, Bill Lindsey gave the Storm some breathing room with a 3-run shot to left. Pat Armstrong closed out the tenth and picked up the win going six strong innings. All Storm batters collected at least one hit and were led by 3-hit KC Kasin (3 hits), Guardino (3-5, dbl, 2 rbi), Cargerman (3-5, hr, dbl, 3 rbi), and Lindsey (3-6, hr, 5 rbi). Randy Little hit a solo shot in his inaugural Storm game.
