ANGELS SWEEP!!
Following a too-familar pattern, the Angels gave up two in the first inning of the nightcap, but came back with one in the bottom of the first to keep it close. The Gators scored one in the third and six in the fourth as the Angels defense impoded. However, after four in the third, the Angels came back with seven in the fourth, including a based-loaded triple by manager Jess Whitehill (and that last 90 feet looks like 180) to set a twelve to eight lead that they would build on to a fifteen to eleven win. Newcomer Al Smith threw gas for the first three, giving up three runs with four Ks before tiring in the fourth and being victimized by a defensive meltdown. Erlan "Big Daddy" Villareal came in and gave up only two runs in five innings for the save. On offense, the Angels were led by Pinto (four runs, two walks, HBP, stolen base); Davis (two runs, RBI); Pita (three for four, double, three runs, two RBIs); Thompson (two for three, a run, two RBIs); Apperson (two for two with a run); Whitehill (one for four, triple, four RBIs). In closing, Ladies and Gentleman of the Jury, a good game.
