Virginia's defense helps grind out another victory Two teams that looked very tough on night one battled out a physical and low scoring game in night two. Virginia played the same defensive, slow paced style with timely transition buckets whereas Duke seemed frustrated to be one and done on the offensive end throughout the night. A few runs sparked by Duke got them back into the game with a 2 point game late in the second half, but the defense of Virginia locked in to make it a 10+ point game. However, the 1 and 1 rule helped Duke cut it down to a 5 point game late but could not score under 18 seconds left as Duke falls to 1-1 and Virginia moves to 2-0 on the season. Player of the game Ryan Smith had 20 points and 8 rebounds in a game where every bucket was needed.
