Virginia survives near collapse in defensive battle
Virginia and Nevada warmed up in beautiful weather and right at 6:30 hit, as did the wind. Both teams struggled from 3 as they combined 11-50. Virginia dominated the offensive glass as Brandon Feinstein had 30 rebounds and player of the game Kevin Quinn recorded a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Nevada was missing 2 of their first 4 picks and a ton of their size, but they fought hard down 40-30 to go on a 10-0 run to tie the game with a little over 2 minutes left. Virginia hit a 3 and was fortunate to see Nevada miss 2 uncontested layups to then seal the game at the free throw line. Nevada continues to search for answers as Virginia ended a 3 game losing streak with a tough week ahead.
