Sharks Now 13-1 After Win over Bolles Ponte Vedra recorded a big program win with a 61-52 home victory over the previously once beaten Bolles Bulldogs. The Sharks jumped out to a commanding first quarter 17-2 lead before Bolles could recover. The Bulldogs pulled to within 1 point of the Sharks with just 2 minutes left to play. Alex Madson, who led the Sharks with 20 points, cashed in a game defining 3-point play and the Sharks went on a 10-1 run in the remaining time to earn their 13th victory on the season against but one defeat. Madson missed but one shot on the entire evening in notching his 20 markers and missed nearly an entire quarter due to foul trouble. With the Sharks leading 54-50 a double technical was called with Madson, although fouled on the play, could not shoot the free throws as he had fouled out. Matt Houser came off the bench stone cold and calmly delivered 2 critical free throws to virtually clinch the contest. The victory was the 13th on the season for the Sharks against but one loss, easily the best start in the 13th year of PVHS basketball. Luke Pirris added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the victors as 8 Sharks entered the scoring column. JT Kelly added 7 points, Rory Mayer 6 while sophomore Israel Nehu came off the bench to contribute 4 points and pulled down a couple of crucial rebounds. Junior Nathan Bunkosky, although held to three points, played his usual consistent floor game while dishing off a team high 5 assists. The Sharks will return to the Shark tank Thursday night when they host neighboring Fletcher High in their annual battle of the Beach.
