Sharks Crush Ridgeview 74-38 After suffering but their second defeat on Tuesday against traditional power Providence, the Sharks bounced back in a big way with their best offensive output of the season by rolling to a convincing 74-38 victory over Ridgeview. While it was certainly the highest scoring output on the 2020-21 season, not to be overlooked was the Shark defense. Playing on their home court, the Sharks once again employed their suffocating defense by coming up with 14 steals as the visiting Ridgeview five struggled to find any wide-open shots. The visitors hung around the first half as they trailed 29-22 at the halftime break but the Sharks came out on fire to begin the second half. The Sharks blitzed Ridgeview 23-7 in the third quarter with sophomore Israel Nuhu scoring 10 of his career-high 14 points in the period. Nuhu brought the house down on the final play of the third period when he took a perfect alley-oop feed from Aiden Frien and rammed home a vicious slam dunk. The Sharks exhibited exceptional balance with Junior Luke Pirris leading four of his fellow Sharks in double figures with 15 points. Joining Pirris and Nuhu in double figures was Sophomore Nathan Bunkosky with 13 and Senior Alex Madson with 10. Junior JT Kelly almost made it a fivesome when he scored 9 markers. Although he contributed 6 points to the victory, Rory Mayer, perhaps the best 6-foot rebounder in the state, pulled down 8 rebounds, 6 of those on the offensive end. Starting guards Madson and Bunkosky were a thorn in the side all night to the visitors from the west wide of the St. Johns River. Both of the ball hawking guards had 4 steals while combining on 11 assists, 7 of those from Bunkosky. The Sharks will look to notch their 16th win on the campaign next Wednesday when they travel to Bartram Trail for a return match with the Bears. Earlier in the season the Sharks topped Bartram Trail 57-47.
