Episcopal stops Shark streak Episcopal used a strong second half to hand the Sharks their third defeat off the season 67-50. The Sharks stayed close to the host Eagles as they trailed by only 2 points at the halftime break. The Sharks netted but one field goal, that on a layup following a steal by Nate Bunkowsky in the pivotal third quarter as Episcopal outscored PVHS 14-5 to take a commanding 45-34 lead into the final quarter. Cold shooting from the three point arch doomed the Sharks as they attempted more 3 pointers (28) than 2 pointers. The Sharks were only able to net 5 of their shots beyond the arc in a futile attempt to catch the Eagles in the second half. Episcopal netted 21 of their 26 free throws while the Sharks were limited to 5 makes in but 8 attempts. Episcopal's guards did an outstanding job of protecting the basketball throughout the contest as the Sharks were well below their average of steals on the season. Luke Perris was the lone Shark in double figures with a game high 13 tallies. Episcopal displayed outstanding balance with their 17th win on the season. 4 players were in double figures with Ponte Vedra transfer Matthew Hendrickson close with 9 points. The Sharks hope to bounce back when they host Nease High Friday night. The Panthers boast one of but 3 teams who have earned victories against the Sharks. With a win, the Sharks would attain the magical 20 win mark and the first time for a 20 win season during the regular season.
