Sharks Comeback falls short to Nease It was yet another Ponte Vedra-Nease classic between the two arch-rivals and for the second consecutive game the Sharks fell short of a come from behind victory to the Panthers. Trailing by 12 points 1 minute into the 4th quarter, the Sharks rallied to take their first, and only, lead of the contest on a Nathan Bunkosky steal and a layup at 42-41 with 2:40 left in the contest. However, the Sharks were able to add only one point to their total the rest of the contest as the game would go into overtime tied at 43-43. The Sharks had a golden opportunity to win the game in regulation as a JT Kelly three pointer rimmed out and a Luke Perris shot off a rebound likewise failed to find its mark. With the score tied at 5-5 early in the opening quarter the Sharks found themselves in a hole as the Panthers went on a 12-0 run to close out the opening stanza with a commanding 17-5 lead. The Panthers actually beat the Sharks at their own game as they forced PV into 21 turnovers. Sophomore Nate Bunkosky had a stellar game for the Sharks with a game high 17 points, 9 of those points coming from being fouled while making aggressive drives to the basket. Rory Mayer was the other Shark to reach double figures with 10 points along with 5 steals and 4 offensive rebounds. Ponte Vedra's leading scorer on the season, Luke Perris, was held to six points as he sat out much of the first half in foul trouble before eventually fouling out. The loss was not the way they had hoped to see their outstanding regular season come to an end, but a new season begins Tuesday when they host a yet to be determined opponent Tuesday at home in the opening round of the playoffs.
