Sharks defeat Clay to start 10-0 After nearly 2 weeks without a game, or even a practice due to precautionary virus concerns, Ponte Vedra survived an understandably slow start as they took the floor for a noon start Tuesday against Clay County in the opener of the Blue Devil Holiday Classic. The Sharks saw the host Blue Devils jump out to an early 8-0 lead before the rusty Sharks finally found the range. Once again it was Aiden Frein who came off the bench to give the Sharks the boost they needed by scoring 7 consecutive points to flip a 16-10 deficit into a 17-16 lead, a lead the Sharks would not relinquish the rest of the way. Leading by a slim one point at halftime, the visitors exploded for 22 third Quarter points to pull away from Clay with Luke Pirris scoring 15 of his game high 26 points. The Sharks will have little time to celebrate as for the first time in their school’s history they will play two games on the same day. Their opponent will certainly be no stranger to the Sharks as they will face their arch-rival Nease High for the second time this month at 9 PM tonight at Clay High. The win improved the Ponte Vedra record to a perfect 10-0 to start the season.
