Sharks in Bounce Back Win over Orange Park
Ponte Vedra bounced back nicely after incurring their first defeat of the season on Tuesday by defeating Orange Park 65-49. The Sharks trailed 11-5 early into the contest but then went on a 15-0 run as the Sharks employed a suffocating full court pressure to double the score over the Raiders at 22-11.
When Orange Park closed to within 4 of the Sharks at 49-45 early into the fourth quarter, the Sharks once again ratcheted up their defense go on a 9-0 burst to pull away from the Raiders. Balanced scoring was the theme of the night for the 11-1 Sharks with Luke Pirris (19) Alex Madson (16) and Nate Bunkosky (14) all in double figures.
The aggressive Sharks had 15 steals in the contest with Madson and Bunkosky with 5 each while Bunkosky dished off 6 assists for the victors. JT Kelly was cleared to play just a couple of hours before tipoff and played some key minutes in the first half, highlighted by drawing 2 charging fouls and connecting on his first 3 point attempt since his back injury.
