Nease ends Shark streak at 10 Nease snapped Ponte Vedra’s winning streak at 10 as they held off a charging Shark team in the semi-finals of the Clay County Holiday Tournament. It looked like the Panthers were going to coast to an easy victory against a frigid cold shooting Shark team who were only able to score a miniscule total of 15 points after 3 quarters of play. The Panthers had a commanding 13 point-lead with left than 2 minutes to play before the Sharks caught fire. Led by senior Alex Madson, who scored 15 of his career high 24 points in the final quarter, the Sharks had a golden opportunity to win the game after pulling within two points at 43-41 with still 0:29 seconds left to play. However, a pair of three-point attempts in the final seconds failed to find their mark and Nease prevailed to now own a split in the series after losing earlier in December to their rivals. Nease was a clear winner at the free throw line by scoring nearly half of their 43 points at the charity stripe. The Panthers, who only had Matt Guzzie in double figures with 12 points, netted 19 of 26 at the line while the Sharks converted but 10 of 16. Nease improved to 8-2 with the victory while the Sharks are now 10-1. Nease will play in the championship game tomorrow while the Sharks will play for the 3rd place position in the tourney.
