Staff Report
CT Gamblers - 32
Vermont Ravens - 0
The Ravens drop their second game in a row, this time to the CT. Gamblers 32-0. “This was the second game in a row without a point and our defense has allowed way too many long plays”. HC Mike Salmon discussing the team’s sudden downturn. “We have two weeks off before our next game, so we have time to work on our problem areas and address them and get with the coaching staff and turn this train around. One thing I know, this team can play better than it did today, and I have to do a better job at preparing, it starts with me.”
The first half ended with the Gamblers with a 12-0 lead. The scores were early in the second from 11 yards out an off tackle run by #25 Derrick Dasilva at the 13:44 mark, and he added a 40- yard run at the 1:06 mark to made it 12-0. Neither point after attempt was successful.
Their next score was a nice touch pass from Gambler QB #1 Jose Torres laying a pass over the shoulder of the streaking Gambler WR # 45 Joseph Trahan as he crossed the goal line at the 7:46 mark of the third quarter making the score 18-0 Gamblers. The point after was good and the score was 19-0 CT.
Torres threw 2 more touchdown passes on the afternoon. A 10-yard slant that WR # 2 Shane Davis Sr. took to the house from 50 yards out and a 10 yarder to Dasilva who completed the hat trick with his third score to make it 31 and the extra point was good to end the scoring 32-0 Gamblers.
Not all bad for the Ravens as rookie running back #5 Ryan Walbridge got the starting nod and made some impressive gains as did returning player RB #9 Austin Mayo. Veteran QB #14 Clayton Torres made his first start back with the team this year and completed some nice passes and gained over 50 yards on the ground. DT #56 Lloyd White had a strip and return of 15 yards.
Vermont is off until Sept. 7th when they travel to Bristol, CT. to face the New England Crusaders. The Gamblers are off until Sept. 7th and host the Riptide.
