Staff Report
Glens Falls High School – Glens Falls, NY.
Vermont Ravens – 15
Glens Falls Greenjackets - 38
First year Raven quarterback #6 Abdi Abdo threw 2 touchdown passes, both in the 3rd quarter, and ignited the crowd with some creative scrambling to extend plays in his semi-pro football debut against the Greenjackets. Abdo found Raven WR/SS/QB #7 Kenny Phillips II on a nice endzone corner fade route from 15 yards out for six. #58 K/P/OL/DL Juju Ayida’s extra point was good.
A few minutes later after the Ravens regained procession Abdo completed a pass to RB/DB #3 Akeem Williams who proceeded to take the ball and quickly accelerate past the remaining Greenjacket defenders on route to a 68-yard touchdown reception. Williams finished the game with over 100 yards receiving. The extra point was no good and this completed the scoring for the Ravens on the afternoon.
In the first quarter on an extra point attempt Raven #20 DE/FB/TE/QB Roy Rose laid out after bursting through the line and blocked the kick. An alert Raven defender #18 DE/LB/WR Terrance (Tedo) Whitney scooped up the ball and was off to the races sprinting the 86 yards and fighting a last- ditch effort by a Greenjacket defender to dive into the endzone for 2 points.
The first half was Glens Falls making most of the plays and building a lead of 25-2 going into half-time. Vermont came out after half-time and played Glens Falls even for the second half each team scoring 13.
#55 DE/OL/LB Kenny Limoge had 1 sack. Roy Rose also had 1 sack to go along with his blocked extra point and he also recovered a fumble.
LB/FB #24 DeEric (Bud) O’Neil tipped a pass from the Glens Falls quarterback into the hands of fellow LB #51 George Campbell for a nice interception and return of 35 yards.
DB/KR #1 Matthew Gomes had 1 fumble recovery.
The Ravens travel to Troy, NY next Saturday for their second pre-season game against the Brunswick Bearcats at La Salle Institute. The Bearcats play in the double A conference in the NEFL. Kick-Off is 4:00pm
