STAFFORD ARENA -- Plattsburgh High capitalized on the power-play and secured a 3-1 win against Beekmantown in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys hockey Friday. All the Hornets’ goals came on the man-advantage. Paul Fine-Lease opened scoring for Plattsburgh at the 1:30 mark of the first period. Nate Boule and Seth Atwood each found the back of the net in the second stanza to extend the Hornets’ advantage to 3-0. “You are not going to win hockey games by digging yourself a 3-0 hole by loosing your composure and giving your opponent two-man advantages,” Eagles coach Justin Frechette said. Beekmantown cut into its deficit when Kaden Kowalowski found the back of the net, but that’s as close as the Eagles would get. “We played well in the third period and got ourselves back in the game and scored what looked to be our second goal with six minutes remaining, but it was disallowed due to an inadvertent whistle,” Frechette said. Dean Dashnaw anchored Plattsburgh’s defense, stopping 18 shots. Cole Harvey made 27 saves for Beekmantown. On a night where two rivals clashed, Hannah’s Hope Fundraiser also highlighted the night. “I would like thank everyone who attended this year’s Hannah’s Hope Fundraiser,” Frechette said. “We were able to break our amount raised from last year by over $1,000, earning $3,200 for Hannah and her family. Frechette also extended appreciation to Beekmantown Superintendent Dan Mannix who donated back his 50/50 winnings of $460 to the Hannah’s Hope Fundraiser.
