Columbia, SC April 17, 2017 5:02:12 PM Entry ID: 2081369 | I would like to start off by saying that this is my sons 3rd year as Columbia Hoya and the 1st AAU program that he has participated in. I never put him in any under 6th grade program because at the time, I felt that it didn't/wouldn't matter. I felt as long as he works out and plays school ball....he would be fine. I must say this to all of the curious parents out there: "IT DOES MATTER!" Finding a quality AAU program is essential to the development of your child, male or female. First and foremost, a quality program is not one that only wins. By quality I mean one that is a good fit for your child and one that your child is a good fit FOR as well. I met with Coach Wright when my son was in the 6th grade. He was working out kids at the local YMCA. He met my son, worked him out a little at the Y and informed me when the next tryouts would be. Needless to say, we did not go to tryouts b/c I didn't see the need nor believe in the benefit. I played AAU basketball coming up, BUT I felt I could teach my son what he needed to know. The next year came and my son played at the local rec .center. Coach approached me following a game and stated that my son should tryout for the next opening date. I said ok, we will think about it, but was still unsure. Fast Forward--my son made the team and 3 years later, we realized that it was definitely one of the best moves for his development. Individual workouts is great and so is personal training, BUT there is nothing that can compare to pure competitive repetitions. I believe that a solid player is developed through 3 things: personal/individual workouts, skill building and game like repetitions. By working with Coach T and the Hoyas, I believe that my son has been able to get all 3! The program is solid and the competition is fierce. The road trips are beneficial because not only do they provide the players with competition from all over the southeast region, but they also help to develop long lasting relationships amongst his peers and amongst us as parents. The Hoyas are not just an athletic organization, but we are family. Practices are open and fundraisers are legit. There is complete transparency. No hidden fees or costs and what you see is what you get. I have seen my son grow and develop from a timid player to one who is now more self confident and sure of himself and his abilities. We appreciate this organization and Coach T for the opportunities, the open doors, the player development and most importantly the bond. Coach T Wright will be forever remembered by my son as his 1st AAU Coach and we look forward to more years with this quality program! |

Richland County/Northeast May 2, 2016 11:12:18 AM Entry ID: 2073528 | First I want to say that I have been tracking Mr. Terry Wright for a few years now and was able to get in contact with him on Friday, April 29, 2016. To first start off, my daughter Ebony Graham is a sophomore (10th) at Spring Valley High School and plays varsity basketball for the Great Ann Long (yes she is tough). Yes we won Back 2 Back Championship at SV. The reason for me writing this comment is because of Mr. Wright who was Ebony's first ever Coach she had relating to basketball. He saw in Ebony what she nor myself ever thought would be what is today. We attended Westminister Church Summer Sports Camp on Broad River Road 9 years ago and signed up for basketball. The ladies at the registration table told Ebony: Hi little girl, how are you...the cheerleaders are over their on the other side, Ebony then said with her hand on her hips, "I am not here for cheerleading (smiling), I am here for basketball." From there it was on....Mr. Wright work with Ebony as I would look from the stand some days during the week. Mr. Wright told me that he never saw a young person late alone a girl that can handle the ball at 6 years of age and the IQ that she have for the game....he stated that she is very passion about the game and was surprised that it was her first time in a group setting playing basketball. However he did state because she very passionate about basketball and confidence, her personality may hinder her some, meaning her attitude. It was not bad and she listened when he talked to her.....well after all of that and with it only a week of the camp....we did not see him any more nor did we talked to him, however what she received from Mr. Wright and from the Program was priceless because she took the message and played basketball every since and LOVE THE GAME. SHE participates with the North Spring Recreation and Parks as a score keeper and clock, she has participated in several other community service events, she plays AAU Travel Ball with some of the top ELITE programs, she have won plenty of trophies and awards in basketball, has an IQ like no other and still have her OWN PERSONALITY in which she has matured since being that 6 year old PUNKY BREWSTER LITTLE KID...we are always working on attitude.....I want to say that if it was not for Mr. Wright I do not know if she would have started at an early age and still continuing to play....I am writing this because I want people to know that ADULTS DOES MATTER, MENTORS DOES MATTER...MR. WRIGHT MATTER BECAUSE EBONY "EB" GRAHAM WANTS TO PLAY WNBA, ATTEND UNC CHAPEL HILL, BUSINESS OWNER AND ATTORNEY, WHAT A GREAT COMBINATION....PLAYERS AND PARENTS, LISTEN TO MR. WRIGHT TAKE IN WHAT YOU CAN TAKE IN BECAUSE WE DID AND ALMOST 10 YEARS LATER SHE IS STILL PLAYING BBALL AND LOVING IT.....I AM SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE HIM. THANK YOU MR. WRIGHT, MS. WILLIAMS AND EBONY |

Charlotte September 22, 2014 12:42:11 PM Entry ID: 2058614 | Good afternoon, I had a young man from my team compete in Coach Wright's college exposure workout session with several college coaches in the gym. First, the session was ran with the utmost professionalism. Next, the player from my team thoroughly enjoyed himself. I was unable to attend the event, however Coach Wright treated our player, whom he only knew from our phone conversation prior, as his own. Also, he carved out time to speak with me the following Monday at great length about my young man's performance. Outstanding organization and even better event. I look forward to taking advantage of this opportunity as many times as it is offered. Thanks Coach |

Mr. Deter,
I am so proud of Mitch for having an opportunity to play for Charleston Southern University next year. The one promise that I give to my kids and parents is an opportunity to be seen in front of college coaches. Thank you for trusting me with Mitchell!! I know he has played for a lot of different AAU teams in his career, I am glad he decided to allow me to help him get the exposure he deserve. Congrats Mitch and Go Hoyas!!!
