Aurora, Colorado May 24, 2012 2:12:20 AM Entry ID: 1971611 | I remember playing two years about 49 years ago for the minor league team, the Pirates. I played 3rd base and we came in first both years. I remember a player named Tommy McCarthy, the son of a Times Herald reporter named Red McCarthy. I also remember playing with a kid by the name of John? Blake. I have a photo from the banquet of me, Tommy LaSorta, Bobby Shantz, a major league player by the name of Micky Johnson, and if I could find it I believe John Pergine. I rode my bicycle from 11 Red Rowan Lane to the fields for games and practices which were either at Highfield on Jolly Road or at the fields in Ply. Valley. These were fun times. Still have the glove. |

Naples, Florida September 8, 2011 4:52:50 PM Entry ID: 1911801 | OMG, How are you Pete Bruno? I was hoping that someone from our team would stumble across this website. They were great times and yes..if it were double elimination as it is today I believe we had the team to get to the big show. I still enjoy watching the LL World Series games in Williamsport. Glad to hear you had a chance at Mickey again, unfortunately my baseball career ended with the military draft and Vietnam. It would be great to be able to get it touch with some of our old team. |

Villanova,Pa. August 27, 2011 9:24:43 PM Entry ID: 1909289 | I played SS On the 1961 team new got eliminated by Levitown 4 to 1 who had won the LL World Champs in 1960,the last Penn. Team to win the LL World Series.By the way Dennis I hope u r well and in 1960 n 1961 we had great LL games between the Phils n Mr ciotte's A's. No nite games ,no batting gloves, great wood bats.I honestly believe if we had double elimanation instead of one n done we could have reached Williamsport.I did face Mickey Johnson in 1970 in the Penn-Del League. My exp on that team n Plymouth LL helped me my whole life. I want to thank Mr.Ciotte for buying me my baseball spikes I wish I knew where anyone from his family are so I can them what a great person he was in my life.HAVE Fun Kids ,need a sponsor e-mail me . |

Naples, Florida August 17, 2011 11:24:57 AM Entry ID: 1906742 | Sorry, for anyone interested that was the 1961 PA District 22 Champioship Team. We beat Hatboro/Horsham for the Championship when a balk was called on their pitcher allowing the winning run to score, game over. Some team members, Mickey Johnson, Mike Hartman, Bob Hartman, Bob McGuigan, Allen Snyder, coach Don Ciotti. How things have changed in 50 years, we used wooden bats (no batting gloves) no lighted fields. |
