robert stevens Bayonne April 4, 2008 8:26:46 AM Entry ID: 1361899 | Hey Bayonne Cal Ripken. Congrats on your new lights project. You guys are amazing and hopefully the kids and their parents appreciate all that you have done for them over the years. I know my family will always remember those great times that you gave all of us. I remember you were always talking about getting lights way back when and here we are years later, the dream has come true. What next? To the best youth organization in the world, best of luck in the future. |

Bayonne January 6, 2008 3:58:37 PM Entry ID: 1299629 | My experience with "Make a Kid smile" was as follows: After the holiday break, I happened to be in a classroom where two students received "a gift" from our league. They were so thrilled that I noticed their new sneakers and proceeded to describe them to me (even though they were on their feet). Let me tell you, they were so thankful and proud of having something new "FROM FOOTLOCKER" I was brought to tears. I couldn't help but think that they were probably never in that store before, and rarely received anything new. Way to go Cal Ripken! |

Hometown, USA August 17, 2007 8:04:25 PM Entry ID: 1186127 | I'd like to start by saying that the Mid-Atlantic Regionals at Bayonne was a very nice experience overall, personally as well as for the boys on the team. You guys do a great job at keeping the Yard clean and attractive. However, this facility was too small for such a venue when you have teams travelling long distance and staying in hotels for that amount of time. Parking was too limited to have 4 teams there at one time. This event should be held at a facility with at least 2 fields to double up games and shorten the overall length of the tournament, or allow for more travel time. Most importantly, NO 9 yr old team should have to play double headers, especially in that kind of heat & humidity. Either every team should have had a double header or no team should have had one. The double header put one team at a disadvantage to the other team who did not already have an earlier game. Please do not take these comments as complaining or whining, rather as a pure observational critique for the requested feedback. Overall, it was a great experience for the kids and we enjoyed our time at your facility. Thanks for the great hospitality. |

Jim Whalen Flemington August 15, 2007 11:35:14 AM Entry ID: 1183845 | What a great atmosphere to play ball in. Our players and coaches greatly enjoyed the experience of playing at "The Yard" for the Regional tournament. Everyone was great, the facility, the announcers and umpires all did an outstanding job. Thanks Bayonne. Hopefully we will be back again! |

Flemington, NJ August 9, 2007 10:30:03 PM Entry ID: 1180137 | I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all the volunteers running the 9 year old Cal Ripken Regional Tournament in Bayonne. You have gone out of your way to make us feel welcome here...and the kids are having the time of their lives! You make us proud to be from New Jersey! Keep up the good work. GO THUNDER!!!!! |
Joyce Trenthal Lakewood NJ August 9, 2007 5:16:28 PM Entry ID: 1179924 | To all the dedicated people who are involved with the Bayonne Cal Ripken Baseball league especially to the people who are running the Regional tournament at the Yard, I salute you and thank you for all that you do for the kids of not only your town but the others who are visiting as well. As a relative to one of the young boys on the Bayonne team and who is not from Bayonne, I am amazed at how detailed and organized all of you are. From the first time I stepped foot into your stadium I was very impressed. It all started with cool music before the game. The introductions of all the players made you feel like you were in a major league ball park. The friendly/personable ladies working hard in the concession stand seemed like they wanted to be there rather then they had to be there which clearly showed when ordering my food for our family. The cleanliness of the facility including the restrooms and the outer surroundings allowed for me to relax and let my four year old son play without me worrying about his safety. Even though our team lost that day I forgot all about who won and left there telling my sister in law that I had the time of my life. I am from South Jersey and can tell you first hand that nothing, nothing even comes close to resembling a baseball facility such as yours...with maybe the exception of the Lakewood Blueclaws which is the minor league organization for the Philadelphia Phillies, I would rate yours the BEST. Best of luck to all the volunteers who run such a magnificant program for the young kids and for us BIG kids as well :} |
