I have a deep passion for sports and after playing several during my youth that passion has still remained. I have been retired from the U.S Marines for six years after twenty- three years of service and I have time now to do what I love to do. I have a question regarding your sport division pertaining to possible volunteer work, or direction on what I can do to get started. Like I said I'm a student and once a week I attend classes so time is not the problem. I have my own gear which includes, a Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 5D Mark III, Canon lens, 300mm 2.8 II, 70-200mm II 2.8, 24-70mm 2.8, 16-35mm 2.8 and a 1.4 TeleConverter. I also know its not the gear that makes the photographer but I'm really serious about what I want to do, I guess its the Marine in me. I have begin putting some work on my website, www.jromeclassicprod.com to show what I've currently done and have been able to get access to. Access now is really hard and without a good Portfolio its pretty hard to get noticed. This may not be normal protocol but any help or guidance would be appreciated. I'm also a member of the Professional Photographers Association(PPA) and will be attending the the Phoenix Imaging Conference in January. My focus there will be to gain as much knowledge as possible in youth sports photography along with events. Thanks for taking time to read my email.
