• Central Maryland Fastpitch Softball League Rules (CML)
    1. CML is designed to support and promote fastpitch softball developing softball players to support their local schools and organizations. Teams must be classified "B","C" and rec level are allowed to compete.





    2.League Fees are $250 which covers expenses for end of season tournament and awards. Teams must have their league fees paid before receiving schedules and contact info





    3. Pitching rules that are allowed include USSSA,ASA/USA and high school rules. If any questions review with umpire prior to game starting.





    4.Additional pitching rules consist of 2 mound visits per inning with pitcher being removed in 2nd visit. If a pitcher hits 3 batters above the knee in one inning they are to be removed that inning. They are allowed to come back to pitch but if they hit 2 more batters they are removed from pitching rest of the game.





    5.A mininium of 8 players are needed to start and finish a game. Unlimited defensive substitution during the game, If a team wants to lend a player and it is agreed upon by both teams the game will be considered allowed. The 9th position in the batting order is NOT an out





    6. Courtesy runners for pitcher/catcher will be last batted out.





    7. All players attending game must be in batting lineup with defensive substitution responsibility placed on coach. If a player is injured/sick they can be skipped in lineup without an out being called.





    8.All games are 7 innings( 6 innings for 10u) or 90 minutes finish the inning.





    9. The 1st 3 innings there will be a 3 run limit for 10u and a 5 run limit for 12u.. After that it will be unlimited..The 14/16/18u age groups will play out as a routine game with no limits..





    10. Run rule--15 after 3 innings, 12 after 4 innings, 10 after 5 innings.





    11. Age is based on January 1st birthdate...





    12. Schedule will be confirmed 3 days once its been posted... If a team cancels 2 scheduled events or does no show they will be removed from the league.. All changes must be confirmed with president and will be posted... This includes gametimes..





    13.Teams must play in at least 2 events or more to qualify for end of season tournament.If a team finishes in the top "3" of two "B" or Open tournaments they will not be allowed to compete in end of season tournament but can continue to play their scheduled games. Tournaments must have at least 6 teams competing to make it a qualified event.





    14.Home teams are required to schedule umpires and umpire fees are to be split between both teams.





    15. Game balls can be ASA/USSSA/NSA stamped and be based on the core standards met for that year.





    16. Rosters with names and birthdates must be submitted by Sept 22nd with no more than 20 names.If roster is not turned in by this time then team will be excluded from tournament.





    17. Schedules availability/unavailabity must be submitted no later that august 19 so schedules can be made. Teams can add games on once schedule comes out if interested..





    18. Weekends will be scheduled doubleheaders or round robins with games played during the week as single games for those interested..

    End of season Tournament will be weekend of Nov 2nd/3rd.
