2. Be sure you are registered on the ASAA Exnet. This helps the teams in our league have a better chance of being ranked provincially
3. Please remind your teams/coaches to arrive on time and to respect the timeline and amount of work that goes into the scheduling of our league.

Ties
Ties in the standings at the end of the season will be broken by the following procedure:
• Record between the tied teams
• Points for and against between the two teams
• Points for and against total for the season
• Record against other playoff teams

Basketball
Rules of Your League
Summary

The high pace, physical nature and intensity of basketball can lend itself to an environment of negative words deeds and actions - players, parents and coaches are each responsible to see that this doesn't happen during the course of this season.

Since the CISAA is an institution of education, our common goal is to develop character and positive human beings with  integrity, honesty, and mutual respect.  It will be through our (coaches) leadership that these future leaders will emerge.

With that, the CISAA is setting a renewed effort to take many of the negative aspects out of the game.  This will obviously require the awareness and effort of all coaches and AD's.

Accordingly (and to make sure that everyone is on the same page), please be aware that the following consistent unacceptable behaviors will not be tolerated:

·       Abuse of the officials by coaches

·       Abuse of the official by parents / fans.

·       Abuse of the score keepers by coaches

·       Abuse of the score keepers by parents / fans.

·       Lack of respect by players for the officials and or opponents and coaches not properly addressing these chronic issues.

·       Disrespect by coaches for opponents players and/ or coaches.

Disrespect for your opponent through showboating, running up score.

·       Teams not cleaning up their benches post games.

·       Teams without a teacher sponsor on their bench.

·       Win at all cost attitude.

AD’s need to be accountable for their coaches/fans and coaches need to be in control of their players actions.  If a coach or player is having any issues following these guidelines, this should be addressed immediately and directly by the athletic director.  If your coaches, players and/or fans cannot follow these guidelines they could be expelled from the league

In focusing on sportsmanship and good will within winning (or losing), we will create a healthier environment and we all become better for it!

Minor Officials - Expectations, Etiquette and Guidelines

Detailed Overview of Basketball Officiating Duties
Minor Officials are a major part of a fair free flowing game. Many are volunteering and others may be very new and learning. In order to give our minor officials the best opportunity to learn, please implement the following guidelines in your gymnasium:

1) Two Table officials are required.
One to keep track of score the other to communicate it to the audience by flipping numbers. They are also useful in helping each other get the score and procedures right.

2) No Cell Phones, Games, Gadgets or hand held devices should be operated from the table.
If a phone call to mom is required please instruct your scorer to step outside the gym (or away from the scorer's table) between games for a quick phone call/ text.

3) Friends- Friends are great...but awfully distracting and not allowed near the table.

Only business should be discussed behind the scorer's table (i.e the score, etc). Please help the scorer's direct "extra bodies" (often claiming to be extra help) to the stands and far enough away from the table to let the scorer's focus on their job.

4) Conduct - when at the table, scorer's are asked to be impartial.

They should not make comments to either team, be distracting to the coaches, officials or players, and should not weigh in with an opinion of the game play unless required under the head officials request.
