Weekly Update:  May 12, 2018
This week's weekly update: May 14th-May 18th: Here’s your Happy Mother’s Day Edition of the Campo GLax Weekly Update! 
 
NCS Semi-Final!  ‘Sco Cougars!! Rematch AT Miramonte is Tuesday, 7pm. Winner goes through to the NCS Final on Thursday night.  Tell your family and friends (JV FAMILIES TOO!) to show up and show out for the game, the girls will need all our support to topple the Number 1 Seeded Mats and continue their pursuit of a NCS repeat!  Volunteers – We need Car Pool Drivers and 2 volunteers to work the desk on Tuesday night, please sign up on the website @ Volunteer sign-ups  
 
MONDAY – Practice 5:30-7 -- followed by a PASTA FEED at the Monkarsh’s  -- 140 Calle Montana.  To keep it simple, please REPLY ALL here to let us know what you will bring.  

 

End of Season Banquet – Reminder, banquet at MVPC on 5/29 (Tuesday after Memorial Day), players eat tacos free, everyone else is $15, please respond to the evite for a taco count and give your money to Dagmar when you see her.

Weekly Update:  May 6, 2018

This week's weekly update: May 7th-May 11th: Here’s your GLax NCS Update!

NCS Playoff Schedule: The girls are seeded 4th in D2 for the playoffs, which means that if they make it through the first two rounds they would likely play Miramonte, the number 1 seed, in the semi-final.  You can check out all the seedings and potential schedule here:  D2 Glax NCS Schedule 
 
Campo’s first game is this Tuesday, the girls host Petaluma at 7pm for their first round matchup. We will need 1 timer/scorekeeper (in the box) and 2 scorers to work the table. Please just email Dagmaro@aol.com to let us know if you are willing to work one of these jobs. Let’s Go CAMPO! 
 
End of Season Banquet: The banquet will be on Tues, May 29th at MVPC at 6pm. There will be a Taco Guy at the Banquet, players eat free, $15 for guests. We will distribute a SignUpGenius for desserts and to RSVP.

Weekly Update:  April 29, 2018
This week's weekly update: April 30th-May 4th: GLAX League Playoff Week Update
Thanks to Sheila Monkarsh for coordinating Senior Night on Friday, it was a fantastic event and great to see the Seniors end their regular season on a high note against Alhambra.  We would also like to thank Coach Kalli, Coach Peyton and all the JV girls who came out to support the Seniors and Varsity.  We hope to see all the JV players and parents for the League and NCS Playoff games.  Here’s the schedule and potential schedule for this week:
  • Monday – Varsity practice 5:30-7  
  • Tuesday – League Tournament Semi-Final Game – ACALANES @CAMPO – 7:00.  We need 3 volunteers to work, 2 on the scorer’s desk and 1 Timekeeper.  Please sign up on the website, which has been updated (Thanks Dave).  Again, hope to see all JV players, parents and friends out in force for this game.  The last matchup between these two teams was a one-goal, come-from-behind victory by Campo, so you know Aca will be coming to Campo with vengeance on their minds.  The girls would love to hear a big Campo crowd in the stands.  Pizza is always a possibility…  
  • Wednesday – Varsity Practice 5:30-7  
  • Thursday – Varsity Practice 5:30-7  
  • Friday – If Campo wins Tuesday, the girls will likely play League Tournament Final @ Miramonte at 7pm.  We would need 2 volunteers for scorekeeping and carpool drivers, and will send another email Wednesday as a reminder in the event that is the case.  If Campo does not win Tuesday, Friday will be a regular practice day, but again, we may update you Wednesday if plans change.  
NCS – Seeding will be done by Sunday afternoon and we will update you once we know where and when the girls will playReminder - End of Season Banquet– The Banquet will be held Tues, May 29th at MVPC at 6:00pm.  Please save the date, more details to follow.
 
Mid-Week Update:  April 25, 2018

Mid-week update:GLAX April 25rd-27th:   JV Update - Want to clarify what happened with today’s scheduled game at O’Dowd.  O’Dowd begged us to schedule another JV game back in late February/March so we added that game at O’Dowd while Varsity played Marin Academy, which does not have a JV team.  Late Monday O’Dowd reached out and said they had a field space conflict so cancelled the game.  We emailed their coach and AD twice trying to reschedule the game on Thursday or Friday at Campo, but they have not responded to our emails(including contact from our own AD).  Unfortunately, because Alhambra does not have a JV team all this means that the JV girls have played their last game.   That said, Kalli and Peyton will be having their regular practice tomorrow, followed by the pasta feed at the Parsons.  The coaches have also asked the entire JV team to attend Friday’s Senior Night game against Alhambra at Campo.  Senior Night festivities will kick off around 6:30pm, please come by to share in this special event…pizza will be provided for the JV players. Varsity Practice Thursday 5:30-6:30 (PLEASE NOTE THE REVISED TIME), followed by Pasta Feed at Monkarsh’s.  With practice ending at 6:30, please get pasta to the Monkarsh’s by 6. Friday Varsity Game – Alhambra @Campo 7pm – Senior Night. Senior Player introductions will start around 6:30(Parents of seniors, please try to be on the field by 6:15).  Parent Social after the game at the Monkarsh’s.  Please bring an appetizer to share and/or something to drink (bottle of wine, beer, etc.) End of Season Banquet Update – The Banquet will be held Tues, May 29th at MVPC at 6:00pm.  Please save the date, more details to follow.

Congratulations to Varsity for the thrilling road win on Friday against Acalanes! You’ll be playing them again in a couple weeks, so keep working hard and preparing for the rematch!  Here’s your last Regular Season GLax Weekly Update:Schedule this Week:

  • Monday – Practice, JV 3:30-5, V 5:30-7.
  • Tuesday – GAMES – Campo @Amador Valley
    • JV 5:30 – WE NEED ONE MORE CAR POOL DRIVER and TWO Scorekeepers for JV. JV Carpool Meets at 3:40, departs at 3:50.
    • Varsity game at 7:00, We need ONE CAR POOL DRIVER and TWO Scorekeepers for Varsity. Varsity Carpool meets at 5:00, leaves at 5:10.
  • Wednesday – GAMES:
    • JV @O’Dowd at 5:00, We need FOUR CAR POOL DRIVERS and TWO Scorekeepers.  JV Meets at 2:30 for Carpool, leaves at 2:40. This is the LAST JV GAME, SEE BELOW
    • Varsity – Marin Academy @Campo at 6:00pm (NOTE early start time). We have Van De Wyngaerde Timekeeping and Monkarsh and McCauley at the Scorekeepers Desk.
  • Thursday – Last Practice, JV:  NO PRACTICE, V 5:30-7. Pasta Feeds after practice:
    • JV @ Parsons’…7 Windeler Court, Moraga
    • Varsity @ Monkarsh’s 140 Calle La Montana, Moraga
  • Friday – Senior Night! Alhambra @Campo, JV -no game, because Alhambra does not have a JV team.  Please come out to cheer on the Seniors and the team…We Will Have Pizza for the JV Team to celebrate the last regular season game and our Seniors!
    • Varsity - 7:00 – We have Van De Wyngaerde Timekeeping, but need TWO Scorekeepers.
    • Parents/Fans – Please plan on arriving by 6:15 for Senior Night Presentation.

Looking ahead to League Playoffs and NCS League - This is the first year the league will hold a playoff to determine a league champion, top four teams will make the playoff. If everything holds (and it should), Campo will host Acalanes on May 1st at 7:00pm.  The winner of that game will play for the Championship, likely hosted by #1 seed Miramonte on May 4th. NCS – Campo is in D2 again this season.  The dates for NCS playoff games are May 9, 11, 12, 15, and the final on May 17, hosted by the highest remaining seed. End of Year Banquet  We are working on a date, but it looks like it will be held either 5/21 or 5/22, location TBD.  Stay tuned!

GLAX March 26th-30th....week before Spring Break!

First off, thank you all for stepping up big this week! It looks like most of the game day jobs and carpool slots are filled(please keep checking in, because there are few empty slots and things do change from time to time).  Thank you to all who volunteered at the games and those who brought items to the pasta feeds.  Thank you Martha White and Molly Guthrie for hosting the pasta feeds!

VOLUNTEERS – We need you! Unlike many high school sports, Lacrosse requires parent volunteers in order to play our games. We need JV and Varsity carpool drivers for away games so we can save on travel costs, we need scorekeepers for the desk during games (2 at home and 2 away), and a timer/scoreboard operator for home games. We also need parents to volunteer to host pasta feeds and bring food for those teambuilding events. You do not need to host at your home, you can just organize a gathering at a local hangout (Amaroma, Cooperage, Metro, etc.). Please let us know if you want to take this on!
 
DONATION/CONTRIBUTION REMINDER – We are still short on our $570 contributions. TEAM CONTRIBUTIONS
 
Thanks to all of you who have already made your $570 contribution to the program, without it we simply could not have girls lax at Campo.  Your contribution goes to pay for uniforms, pennies, referees, coaches, and equipment -- all the essentials of the program. For example, the program spent $10,000 this season on uniforms this season alone (first new uniforms in 5 years). We try to keep the cost down by using carpools (saves $600 a game on transportation costs) and volunteers where we can, but we are really hoping for 100% participation to keep the program afloat (right now we are at 79%), so if you have not already made your contribution, please go to this link $570 Team Contribution and make your contribution today!

NorCal Soccer schedule/seeding is out and Campo Girls play Tuesday AT Sacred Heart Cathedral.  We are scheduling this week accordingly, BUT we may have to adjust Wednesday and Thursday practice times if Soccer wins on Tuesday.  For now, here is the schedule this week:
 
Monday – JV 3:30-5, V 7-8:30 (NOTE the late start, we are splitting with boys to accommodate soccer)
 
Tuesday-Thursday JV 3:30-5, V 5:30-7...The games on Tues against Cal High have been postponed to a later date in the season

Just a reminder to go online and sign-up for game jobs ahead of time (if you wait until the day of the game it looks like we do not have anyone to cover the jobs).  Don’t worry if you have not done one of the jobs, we will train you, we just need bodies!

GLAX Week 2/26 - 3/3
Congratulations to the Campo Girls Soccer Team for the 3-0 victory against Analy on Saturday to bring home a NCS Title! This is the first year for the CIF Regional Soccer Tournament of Champions, so soccer will continue for two more weeks, which also means we need to continue to be flexible with field space, so please continue to watch for emails and texts (players) if there are late changes to the schedule.  Here is what is on tap for this week:

BAG ORDERS – If your player wants a Campo lax bag, LAST CALL to order AND pay (Cost is $70, bring a check to F1 or Venmo @Dagmar-Ortman) is Tuesday at Noon. If you want to order a bag, please email Dagmar and she will place the order.  Here are the people who have expressed interest, and if you have not paid, please get that check to Dagmar by Noon Tuesday and please check this list to ensure your name is spelled correctly: Sween, Merrion, Schaffel(paid), Westphal(paid), Poon(paid), Brewer(paid), Olson, Axelrode, Davis, and McCauley(paid).
 
UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION – The New uniforms will be distributed Monday in F1 at LUNCH. Come to F1 immediately after the bell rings and bring your lunch, the distribution will take time and you should plan on eating in the classroom.
 
OLD UNIFORM RETURN – Now that we have the new uniforms, we need to collect the old uniforms that were distributed to the girls.  Please WASH and put the uniform in a gallon ziplock bag, then return it to F1.
 
TEAM/SOCIAL Contributions – If you have not done so already, please make the Lax Participation Contribution of $570 (you can click on the link on the Campo GLax website to make the payment) and the suggested contribution of $50 for team building activities (you can give Dagmar a $50 check or Venmo @Dagmar-Ortman)

GLAX Week 2/19 - 2/24
 
Congratulations to the Campo Girls Soccer Team for pulling out a W Saturday night in the nail-biting-ist of nail biting finishes!  NCS Semi-Final is Wednesday at Campo at 7pm, which also means GLax practices will be impacted this week.  Until Soccer is over, our emails should be relied upon as the most accurate schedule, not the online calendar or schedule we gave out at the meeting.  Here is the practice and game schedule through Wednesday:

GAMES THIS WEEK - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

SWAG ORDER DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT MONDAY!

UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION 
 
We placed a rush on our uniforms and hope that they will be delivered for distribution by Tuesday before the game.  If they do not make it, we will be re-issuing our old uniforms for this one game, we will have the new ones before Friday for sure.  We will send out a TEXT to the girls as soon as we have the uniforms with instructions for distribution. IMPORTANTLY, returning Varsity players who have not tried out yet because of Winter sports conflicts SHOULD come to uniform distribution.  Per tradition, uniforms will be distributed in the following order: Varsity, Seniors to Freshmen, then JV, Juniors to Freshman.
 
February 12, 2018
Tryouts have concluded for all Candidates, except those still competing in Winter Sports, or who participated in the Yosemite Institute Trip.  Anyone who was on that trip, or who is/was participating in a Winter Season Sport must attend an individual try-out session and/or talk to the coaches about trying out on:

GLAX Week 2/12 - 2/17
Team JV/Varsity - IMPORTANT - PARENT/GUARDIAN MEETING - Your parents are not on this email yet because the parent meeting is MONDAY Night, 2/12 at 7pm in F1, and we will get their emails then.  For now, please forward this email to your parents to ensure that they come to the meeting Monday night.  This meeting is MANDATORY, one of your parents/guardians MUST attend, so again, forward this email to them so they know when and where to go.
 
PRACTICE SCHEDULE THIS WEEK - Girls Soccer starts NCS this week, so GLax practice schedule will be shifting this week and possibly next week to accommodate Soccer.  ALL practices will be at Bob Wilson Stadium on the turf.  Once soccer is over, JV will be practicing 3:30-5pm and V will be practicing 5:30-7pm. Here is the schedule for this week:
 
Monday - ALL GLax 5:30-7pm.  If you are in a Winter sport or missed tryouts because of the Yosemite Trip, come to this practice to start your tryout and/or talk to the coaches about trying out.
 
Tuesday - JV - 4-5:30pm, V 7-8:30pm.
 
Wednesday - JV - 3:30-5pm, V 8-9:30 (will split field with BLax after soccer game is over.
 
Thursday - ALL GLax 4-5:30
 
Friday - NO SCHOOL/PRACTICE
 
NEXT WEEK - MONDAY - GLax IS planning to practice Monday evening, time TBD once Soccer sets it's practice time, if necessary. We will send an email once we know the time.
