The Cliffside Park Ridgefield Recreation Football Program plays in the Bi-County Junior Scholastic Football League (BCJSFL). The program is open to all boys and girls in the 2nd thru 8th grades that are not yet 15 years old.
From the League Website:
"The Bi-County Junior Scholastic Football League is formed for the purpose of providing junior football in a hospitable environment. It is recognized that adolescent and preadolescent sports all too often assume an overly competitive atmosphere as a result of overzealous adult influence. This atmosphere, while sometimes resulting in excellent play, is considered more often detrimental to the vast majority of youth in this age group. It is also recognized that only the highest excellence in teaching and sportsmanship can be sought. The rules, therefore, shall be designed to maintain such excellence while preventing the over coached competitive environment of the youth in the league’s respective communities.
The adopted philosophy of the Bi-County Junior Scholastic Football League is “Athletes First —Winning Second.” By this statement we mean that every decision you make as a town should first be in the best interest of your athletes, and second in the desire to win."
The Cliffside Park Ridgefield Recreation Football Program fields 3 levels: Peewee, 2nd thru 4th grade; Junior, 5th and 6th grade; Senior, 7th and 8th grade. Practices occur mainly at West Grantwood Park located adjacent to #6 school. Film review for the Senior team is held in the HS locker room. During inclement weather, practices will be moved inside to one of the middle school gyms.
The Cliffside Park Ridgefield Recreation Football Program is a traveling team. Home games are held Friday nights at West Grantwood Park located adjacent to #6 school. The Peewee Games start at 6pm. The Junior Games start immediately after the conclusion of the Peewee Games. The Senior Games start immediately after the conclusion of the Junior Games. Away games are held at various locations in other towns. Players will be transported to and from away games via bus provided free of charge by Cliffside Park.
The Cliffside Park Ridgefield Recreation Football Program exists to create a fun learning environment for everyone. All coaches are volunteers that have taken and passed a Rutgers Certified Coaching Clinic. Coaches are on the field to pass on their knowledge of the game of football to the youth of the community. Parents are on the sidelines or in the stands to cheer on their children. The Cliffside Park Recreation Football Program makes every effort to teach the game of football to every player that participates.
