Pool Pass Information for the 2024 Season

 

To swim with the Crafton Crocodiles, there are two options. You MUST either have a pool pass (resident or non resident) OR if you are only at our pool to swim with the Crocodiles you will write us a check for $35 that we give to the Boro for your child to swim with us.  

If you live in Carnegie, Thornburg, Rosslyn Farms or Ingram and decide you would like a pool pass for the Crafton Pool there is a special discount provided for you. $15 off for Individual or $30 off a Family pass at the Non-resident rate. 

The Boro has also graciously provided the same discount to those swim team families that live outside of Crafton, Thornburg, Rosslyn Farms and Ingram. If you live in the City, Greentree, Robinson, Carnegie, etc and have a child that swims for the Crocodiles, you are also allowed to purchase a Crafton Pool pass (NON RESIDENT) at the Boro office. The same discount listed above will apply to you as well.

*IMPORTANT*  You will need to bring a copy of your receipt from Registration to purchase your passes. You must show proof of registration for the discounted rate. 

AGAIN, ANYONE CAN JOIN THE CROCODILES FOR THE $35 FEE (per child) BUT WILL ONLY BE GIVEN ACCESS TO THE POOL FOR THEIR CHILD(REN) DURING SWIM TEAM EVENTS

Swimmers Code of Conduct

Crafton Crocodile Swim Team Swimmers Code of Conduct 

Adopted 2014

All swimmers are expected to behave in a respectful and sportsman like manner when participating in any and all Crafton Crocodile activities. 

Acceptable behaviors include:

1. Listening to the Coach's instructions at all times. For example:

  • No back talking

2. Respecting other swimmers during practice/warm-ups. For example:

  • No jumping lines who swimming
  • No physical contact when swimming (hitting, touching, etc)

3. Following pool rules and safety guidelines. For example:

  • No diving in the shallow end
  • No horseplay or running on the pool deck, beach areas, or bathrooms

4. Respecting other persons and their property. For example:

  • No hitting, biting, punching, holding or physically harming another person and their property.
  • No name calling, taunting, bullying or using profanity. 

Swimmers and/or parents are to report behavior problems to a coach or board member immediately. Remember, corrective action cannot be taken unless the coach or board member is notified of an incident. 

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

First Offense: Verbal Correction by the Coach (and time outs as needed).  The first corrective step will be the coach talking one-on-one with the swimmers to discuss and correct the problem.  The Coach may also choose to use time outs when he/she seems such actions may help.  The discussion (and, if applicable, time outs) will be noted in the swimmer's record to document the nature of the problem and the corrective actions take by the coach. 

Second Offense: Dismissal from Practice Followed by a Meeting with Swimmer, Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Coach. The second corrective step will be dismissal from practice. The swimmer will not be allowed to return to practice until the completion of a meeting with the coach, swimmer and parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss the behavior and corrective actions needed.  Such actions may include the requirement that a parent attend all practices until such a time that the swimmer demonstrates the ability to meet the Crafton Crocodiles Code of Conduct. Documentation of the meeting and agreed upon actions will be noted in the swimmers record. The board will be notified of the meeting and its outcome.

Third Offense: Dismissal from Practice Followed by a Meeting with the Swimmer, Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Board. The third corrective step will be immediate dismissal from the practice and will not be allowed to return until the swimmer and parent(s)/guardian(s) meet with the board to discuss the situation.  If a resolution to the situation can not be found, the board may vote to dismiss the swimmer from the team. 

 

 

 

Crafton Crocodile Information 

The Crafton Crocodiles are members of the South Hills Summer Swim Conference.  Member teams include Crafton, Greentree, South Fayette and Scott Township. The SHSSC sets the rules and instructional policies utilized to conduct all duel meets and conference events during the summer season. The SHSSC has adopted the NCAA rule book for technical requirements. 

Crocodiles Requirements 

-Must be 18 years of age or younger. Graduating High School Seniors may only swim the summer immediately following graduation and must be 18 or under as of June 1st. 

-Must have a consent signed by a parent or legal guardian

-Must have some ability to swim continually in all depths of water, and be able to sufficiently swim 25 years at the coaches discretion and adhere to all the safety rules. 

-MUST MEET ALL THE VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

-NEW SWIMMERS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE. 

(Parent) Volunteer Requirements 

Parental involvement is required to run the swim program productively. Parents are required to sign up to volunteer to work at the following: Swim Meets- two (2) swim meets ;PLUS one (1) volunteer position as the Host Team for the Relay Meet; Team Event-one(1) Crafton Celebrates Booth, Funday Friday or Team Banquet.  If is very important that each family helps out with the swim team. There are a lot of positions to volunteer for and we need all the help we can get!! This season we have added a buy out option. It is $75 per family if you know you are not available to help out during meets or fundraisers. We urge all available families to please consider full-filling these volunteer obligations or we will have to go back to collecting volunteer payments in advance. 

We need at least one member of each family to participate at the fundraising and other team events, and as a meet worker. We must supply meet workers for both home and away meets. If you would like to do something, please volunteer-if you are not personally asked, please do not be offended, just tell us how you would like to help.  We will train you! The more help we have, the easier it is and the more fun it is for everyone. 

VOLUNTEERS REQUIREMENT DEPOSIT

Parental involvement is required to run the swim program productively.  Parents are required to sign up to volunteer to work at the following:

  • Swim Meets - two (2) swim meets  
  • PLUS one (1) volunteer position as the Host Team for the Relay Carnival on 7/7 or 
  • Team Event - one (1) Crafton Celebrates Parade, Crafton Celebrates, Team Pool Party or Team Banquet 

 At the time of registration you will be asked to write out a check in the amount of $50 or you can also give cash to serve as a deposit until the above mentioned volunteer requirements are fulfilled. 

Your swimmer will not be able to practice until a check/cash is received.  If you uphold your obligation to volunteer, the check/cash will be given back to you at the banquet.  If you do not uphold your commitment to volunteer, the check will be cashed or the cash kept.  It is very important that each family member helps out with the swim team.  There are a lot of positions to volunteer for and we need all the help we can get!!

JOBS FOR SWIM MEET WORKERS 

Timing:

Score Keeper:

  • Assist with scoring the events to on the main Ipad.

Stroke and Turn Judge

  • Watches swimmers strokes and turns to insure that they are done according to the rules. (training required)

Finish Judge:

  • Will watch each event from the pool deck and note the order the lanes finished in.

Runners:

  • Will carry information between the finish judges and stroke and turn judges to the officiating table during a meet. Typically also brings around water to timers and officials during the meet.

Heat Winner Ribbon Distribution:

  • Will watch all the events from the Pool Deck and pass out Heat Winner Ribbon(s) for each event to the winners of the event.

Head Seeder:

  • Oversees the event seeing at a meet to ensure all swimmers are ready for their events. 

Wall Seeder:

  • Will assist in lining up the swimmers for each event in the staging area and getting them to the pool.  

Beach Patrol:

  • Finds swimmers and seeds them for their events. Assist wall seeders.

Set-up: 

  • Must arrive early to assist with set up prior to the swim meet.

Tear-down/ Clean Up:

  • Remains at the pool when meet concludes.  Assists in getting equipment put back in storage area.  Cleans up area around pool.

Concession Stand Worker:

  • Will be assisting at the concession stand during meets.

50/50 Ticket Sales:

  • Sells 50/50 raffle tickets during home meets. 

Referee: 

  • This person watches the meet from the scoring table and approves all papers that come in from the stoke and turn judges and assists with the running of the meet. (training required)

Starter:

 

  • The starter runs the meet. They announce each event and start each event.  (training required) 

 

For Away Meets we will only need to provide: Seeders, Timers and Stroke and Turn.
