PROFESSIONAL COACH GIRLS 2006
Birthplace county is Meath, Ireland. I moved to USA in 1993 and have lived in Florida ever since. I've been lucky enough to travel and play football in so many USA cities. Family 3 kids, 2 girls and my son Aidan is a goalie with AC Delray.
I've played pro and semi-pro for 9 years in Ireland. The highlight of my career was playing in the European Cup Winners Cup now known as the Europa Cup. I started coaching at 16 and have coached at levels from U6 to the Senior level.
I joined AC Delray in 2015 and was very impressed by the fantastic facilities, other professional coaches and drive to make it a world class program where kids' development is very important.
My coaching style is high energy with emphasis on good technique, teaching player's to make quick and positive decisions with the ball.
Additionally, improving kids confidence and encouraging hard work, honesty, and the desire to be a better individual as team player is important

Hobbies: Watching football from every country and most of all what makes me happy is seeing man untied suffer.

Favorite player: Andres Iniesta - always looking to receive the ball in any part of the field and when he makes his first pass it's always a positive pass.

Wellington Beats Delray 2-1 in another close match

Two old friends faced off again this weekend in a u15 SFUYSA D1 Spring spirited matchup. This time the Wellington Wave 2006 Girls White team traveled across Palm Beach with their drums and noisemakers (which I thought someone said we were childish for using at our home games, so I guess its ok bringing to away games? note taken:) But anyway, we love the atmosphere and passion it crates so a sincere thank you for bringing, and helping add to that..) to take on the AC Delray Rush 2006 Elite Squad. This is the 5th matchup of the season and 2nd in last couple of weeks.
Wellington came in with a slight edge with 2 wins, 1 loss and a tie in the series. Delray was hoping to even up the win totals at 2 apiece, but it was not meant to be. Although the first half was scoreless, Delray again seemed to dictate the flow but just could not get enough offense to get the ball across the goal line.
Wellington would catch a break early in the 2nd half with a penalty kick inside the box to take the 1-0 lead. They would add to the lead a few minutes later when they broke free for a breakaway goal for the 2-0 lead. Delray was able to pull 1 back with about 13 minutes left after #2 Nicole Lejarazo-Schussler put away the corner kick cross from #7 Jessica Carbajal, but that was as close as it would get. Despite several good scoring chances, Delray just could not get enough offense to finish the job. Wellington now leads the series 3-1-1 and has a slight edge on goals 10-8
Although the game was meaningless with Delray already clinching the #1 seed in the playoffs with their Fall division championship, and with Wellington pulling out of the playoffs this season, this was still another fun, close and great game as both teams played hard and the extra noise makers made the atmosphere very exciting. Can't wait for these 2 teams to do it again soon, hopefully back in Delray where we can all have more fun!! :)

AC Delray Rush 2006 Girls Elite team would meet up with old friends Weston FC 2006 Premier for the 4th time this season. This time they would matchup in the U15 finals of the 2001 Palm Beach Gardens Classic. After tying 2-2 in the 2nd game of the tournament this game again proved to be an even matchup. Although Delray controlled most of the possession and out shot Weston, they could not find the back of the net. The teams would end regulation tied at 0-0 and head to the dreaded shootout.

On Friday night March 5, 2021 old rivals Martin United SC and AC Delray Rush met up for the 3rd time this season. This time it was not in league play, but for the 1st game of the 2021 Palm Beach Gardens Classic Tournament.
The 2 teams split the previous matchups, 3-1 for Delray early in the season and 2-1 for Martin just a couple weeks ago.
These 2 teams always play a close physical game that can go either way and this game was no exception.
Delray would score on a Penalty Kick in the 53rd min for the winning goal in the extremely close 2-1 victory.

Delray Battles Martin County
AC Delray Rush ''06 1 2 Martin United SC ''06
It was another hard fought battle between these teams, but this time Martin was able to come out in top with the 2-1 victory. Shorthanded Delray just could not get the offense going after striking early in the 4th min to take the 1-0 lead. Martin would stifle Delray's attack with hard tough fouls, and offside traps all game long. Martin would score the go ahead goal early in the 4th qtr and would save off a late push from Delray.
The win was the first for Martin in the Spring season, improving to 1-2. Delray falls to 2-2

2021 South Florida Rush El Classico had Miami Rush Kendall again taking the drive up north to take on the AC Delray Rush 2006 U15 Girls. Sophia scores 4 Goals as Delray Opens SFUYSA Spring Season with 5-3 Win

On Sunday January 24th 2021, The Boynton Knights 2007 U14 Girls team took on the AC Delray Rush 2006 U15 Girls team in a SFUYSA U15 Division 1 Spring League Matchup. The was the opening game for both teams after both winning their respective fall leagues.
Boynton would jump on Delray early as Delray was slow to get things going and in the 13th Min Boynton opened up the scoring taking the 1-0 lead. It looks like Delray would have a hard time getting things going, but #25 Sophia Perez Garcia would take matters into her own hands. With her team struggling to get the offense opened up, she was able to score not 1, not 2, but 3 2nd quarter goals, as Delray would take a 3-1 lead into Halftime.
Boynton would pull one back early in the 3rd to tighten things up. Yet again, Sophia would rescue her team by adding an unbelievable 4th goal in the 68th min to take the 4-2 lead. #19 Nicole who was making just her 2nd appearance back from ACL surgery added her 1st goal for the club just 1 minute later to increase the lead to 5-2.
Boynton was able to add on another one off a beautiful corner kick to creep up to 5-3, but that is as close as they would get as Delray would hang on for the win.
This was a very exciting game with lots of action. Congrats to both teams for providing the entertainment!

Girls Take on Boys in Game #2 of the Inter Gender Friendly

On Sunday, January 17th, 2021 the Girls set out to revenge an earlier season "friendly" loss to the boys. There was nothing friendly about this matchup as both teams came out to win. The game would be a scoreless affair in the 1st half as both teams played good defense, however early in the 2nd half the boys would finally open up the scoring as #14 scored from an assist from #6. Not to be outdone, the Girls batted right back to tie it up as #25 Sophia Perez Garcia threaded the needle to #21 Anna Leigh Waters for a beautiful assist, and Waters does what she does, she put the ball in the net for her 25th goal of the season.
The Girls would take the lead 10 min later, as this time Waters assisted to #17 Margaux Bonutti who smashed a volley past the goalkeeper as the ball just crossed over the line for the 2-1 lead. The lead was short-lived though as the Boys came right back 5 min later to tie things up at 2 as #6 put one home from the assist from #14. The game would stay that way until the final whistle. The tie sets the season series now as the Boys lead 1-0-1 with a goal differential of 6-5

SFUYSA Game #8 - Division Championship vs Wellington Wave White

It was Championship Saturday as the 2006 Wellington Wave White team traveled east to take on rival AC Delray Rush in the last game of the SFUYSA U15 Division one Fall league. With Wellington coming in at 6-0-1 and Delray coming in at 6-1-1, the winner of the contest would determine the league champion. The teams met a week prior in a classic 2-2 draw and both teams came looking for revenge and the title.
Wellington would strike first and take a 1-0 early in the 2nd half, however Delray would storm back in the 2nd half with 3 unanswered goals, with 2 from #17 Margot Bonutti and 1 from #21 Anna Leigh Waters to take the win and the division title 3-1!
Congrats to the girls on a terrific start of the year. This is a nice prize, but is nothing to what the team hopes to accomplish in the future. The club will now rest up for the Holiday Break and be back in action early January. The 2 teams will again meet up a few more times this year in FSPL play and again in the Wellington Tournament so this is far from over lol. Congrats to both squads on the early success and best of luck to both for the rest of the year.

On Sunday December 13, 2020 Weston FC 2006 Premier Girls squad traveled north to take on the AC Delray Rush 2006 U15 Girls Elite team in a SFUYSA matchup. Delray won the previous matchup 5-1 a few weeks back, but this time Weston had some help from a few "gals" and things would be a little different... Weston would go on to upset Delray 3-1 for Delrays first loss on the SFUYSA season. Congrats to Weston on a great game.

On Friday Night December 11, 2020 Delray traveld across the county to face longtime foe Wellington Wave. The Wave and Delray Rush both come in undefeated in SFUYSA play this season as this would be a battle for 1st place.
The game would be very physical as both teams looked to set the tone. It was Delray that would break through 1st as Anna Leigh Waters put in her 23rd goal of the season as she put a through ball from #6 Lauren Ladd and slipped it past the goalie for the 1-0 lead. The game would continue this way right up until the halftime buzzer as Sophia Perez Garcia also took a through ball, this time from Waters, and slid the past the diving goalie and placed it in the empty net for the 2-0 lead right at the 40 min mark.
The score would remain this way until early in the 4th quarter when Wellington finally would score to cut the lead to 2-1. As the game went on, things got tighter and even more physical as Delray looked to hold onto the lead, and Wellington tried desperately to tie it up.
Wellington got a break late when Delray was called for a handball in the box to set up the game tying penalty kick. However, Delray GK #26 Jaiden Wandtke would have none of that as she came up with an amazing save diving to her right to preserve the lead.
This would be very short lived though, as Wellington would go to score the tying goal just minutes later when they floated in a long distance shot just over Wandtke's reach.
With just mins left to go in the game Delray looked to take the lead when Morgan Goldman tried her own shot, but just missed, scraping the goal post and going just wide left. That was the last shot Delray would have and although they were dominating most of the game, they would have to settle for the 2-2 draw. This was an exciting game to watch, congrats to Wellington for not giving up and fighting until the end. Both teams played great and will be a fun rivalry going forward.
The 2 teams will meet again next weekend to settle the score once and for all and crown the Division Champion.

Cape Coral is 1.87 Goal Favorite
On Saturday November 14, 2020 AC Delray made the 2.5 hour trip to the Florida West Coast to take on the Cape Coral SA 2006 Cyclones Black squad in a Florida State Premier League U15 matchup.
The game was tight early as both teams struggled to get some offense going against the tough defenses.
Finally, late in the 2nd quarter #11 Morgan Goldman would place a ball in behind the defense for #32 Giuliana "Cupcake" Bavaro to drive towards goal. As she met the ball she was also met by the GK who collided with her causing the referee to call a foul in the box.
This would set up #21 Anna Leigh Waters for her 19th goal on the season as she put away the PK for the 1-0 lead.
Late in the 3rd Delray would add another one as they used great ball movement to take control of the game. #3 Phoebe Baran whipped a perfect cross in from the right-wing and found #17 Margaux Bonutti waiting patiently to send it to the back of the net for her 7th goal on the season.
GK #26 Jaiden and her defense again kept the clean sheet and kept the powerful Cape Coral offense off-balance all game long for the shutout.
The win improves Delray to 9-3 on the season and 3-2 in FSPL. Cape Coral drops to 2-2 in the league.

The game was played in rainy and windy conditions as Tropical Storm/Hurricane Eta was just off the southern coast. Things were tight early but Delray managed to score right before half time as Ashanti put in her 2nd goal of the season.
The teams would stay like that until mid 3rd when Brooklyn would score her first goal of the season off the assist from Anna Leigh.
Tropical would pull one back to make the score 2-1 in the 4th quarter, however 2 late goals by Morgan Goldman and Anna Lee Waters put the game away giving the team the 4-2 victory.

AC Delray Rush improve to 10-3 on the season with a 5-0 victory over FTLFC on November 15th 2020 at Mills Pond Park in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Delray again showed a great defense as GK Jaiden and her crew kept the clean sheet for the 2nd time this weekend. While the defense was holding up their end, Anna Leigh Waters and the offense provided the fireworks. Waters had an exceptional day with 3 goals and 2 assist on the afternoon. She has scored at least 1 goal in an amazing 13 straight games to open the season. Not to be outdone, her sidekick Margaux Bonutti also chipped in with a Goal and an assist, and Sophia Perez Garcia finally got her first of what will be many goals for Delray by bagging her 1st of the season early in the 2nd half.
With the win AC Delray remains undefeated in U15 D1 SFUYSA play at 5-0 and improves to 10-3 on the season.

On Sunday November 1st 2020, Ft. Lauderdale Girls 2006 U15 Blue squad traveled to take on the 2006 U15 AC Delray Rush Girls Elite team in a SFUYSA battle of undefeated teams.
It was a very physical game and goals were hard to come by as Delray missed several chances in the 1st half and again in the 3rd period. Finally in the 66th Min, #21 Anna Leigh Waters took a rebound volley off a Morgan Goldman corner kick and slammed the ball in the back of the net for the Goalaso!! There was some shaky defense by Delray late, but they were able to hang on for the 1-0 victory. The back line of Leah, Daidriana, Cupcake, Lyla and Val all play exceptional and help Goalie Jaiden keep the clean sheet.

After a long layoff, soccer is finally back. AC Delray Rush U15 2006 girls played the U16 2005 girls in a pre-season inter club friendly. This was the first game for both teams since March and the first game for 2006 with its new roster. 2006 had quite a few girls making their debut for the squad and they certainly didn’t disappoint.
Coach Clem’s crew played a nice possession game keeping the ball moving most of the game showing good communication and movement. The heat and rust got to both teams in the 2nd half, as play got a little more open due to fatigue, but this was a nice game to start to the season. We look forward to big things from this team this year...

On Saturday September 5th 2020 some familiar faces got together to participate in the Broward vs Palm Beach Friendly Covid Series. Sunrise Sting SC 2006X took the short drive up I-95 to take on familiar foe AC Delray Rush 2006 Elite. The sting who are ranked #11 in the state by Gotsoccer.com come into the matchup having already played a tournament and has a few games under its belt, while Delray, ranked #35 in the state was playing just their 2nd game and 1st against a non inter club opponent.
The experience of the Sting was on display early as they used their speed and aggressiveness to jump out on Delray early. They would open up the scoring in the 4th minute when #23 would slip one past the goalie for a quick 1-0 lead. Delray would eventually catch up to the game speed and got back on track finishing the half strong. The 2nd half saw Delray come out strong with some nice possession. In the 44th Minute Ann Leigh Waters would take a pass from Sierra Veolong just past mid field and drove her way towards the goal driving past defenders and beating the goalie with a nice distance shot in the upper corner for the 1-1 tie. Just a few minutes later and after a couple of questionable non calls in the box, former Sunrise player #11 Morgan Goldman would lift a beautiful corner kick right onto the head of #17 Margaux Bonutti who would bury it in the back of the net for the go ahead goal and eventual game winner for Delray. With the win Delray improves to 2-0 in the preseason friendlies and look to be on their way to a fun and exciting season. Sunrise would fall to 3-2-1 on the young season. Congrats to both teams as they both played extremely hard. Both are very talented teams who have a bright future ahead of them. It's always fun to complete against former teammates and friends, very proud of all the girls for the way they competed.

Opening Day of the 2020-2021 Florida State Premier League kicked off with #28 AC Delray Rush facing off against cross county rival #9 Wellington Wave White in a U15 Girls matchup.
Delray was able to take the lead early when Margaux Bonutti slid one past the keeper in the 15th Min for the 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived as Wellington came right back in the 27th minute to even things up. The teams would remain that way through halftime.
Wellington came out strong to open up the half and untied things in the 52nd Minute when #9 took a touch and beat the goalie for the 2-1 lead. Delray would fight back and had many chances to even things up but in the 66th min Wellington would add another one when #22 blasted one from just inside the box.
Although down 3-1 Delray would not stop fighting and again had multiple chances to put another goal on the board. Finally in the 72nd Minute Margaux fired a front flip throw in into the box where it found Ashanti Avellaneda who laid it off for Anna Leigh Waters who put it home to cut the lead to 3-2.
The lead was short lived however as a mixup in the back led to Wellington tacking on the insure goal just seconds after the kickoff in the 72nd Minute. Again Delray would keep fighting and finished the game strong again just missing on several chances.
With the loss Delray falls to 2-1 on the season and 0-1 on FSPL play. Wellington is now 1-0 in the FSPL.
Very proud of all the girls, they all played very hard and the game was a lot of fun to watch. Lots to still learn and do, but the team is off to a nice start!

On Sunday 9/20/2020 AC Delray Rush U15 Girls 2006 Elite traveled an hour north to take on the always tough Martin County United U15 2006 Girls team in the Florida State Premier League matchup.
The game was physical as always as both teams played hard. Martin controlled the first half and scored the opening goal right at the end of the first quarter for the 1-0 lead. Martin would play sting defense and keep that lead going into halftime.
Delray and Coach Clem made some key adjustments at the half and came out a much different team scoring 3 unanswered goals for the 3-1 win.
With the win Delray is 1-1 in FSPL play and 3-1 overall, while Martin falls to 0-1 in their first season in the league.
Hard fought game by both sides. Very proud of all the girls out there!

Sunday September 27th, 2020 the AC Delray Rush U15 2006 Girls Elite squad would travel over 3 hours north to to Auburndale, FL to take on the Braden River Rage U15 2006 Girls Premier Team. Delray was traveling after beating Weston FC 5-1 the previous day. Unfortunately, that game was blacked out fro local television and no footage is available. This was an absolute crazy, fun and emotional roller coaster of a game to watch. Braden River used their defense to stifle the mighty Delray attack as the Rush just could not get anything really going offensively. The scored was back and forth early on until BR opened up the scoring in the 35th Minute taking the 1-0 lead. The lead was very short lived as #21 Anna Leigh Waters was fouled in the penalty box earning the PK. Waters would go on to bury it for the 1-1 tie. The score would remain that way until halftime. Braden would break the tie in the 45th min with a nice shot by #7. Again Delray thought they got it right back when Waters again earned a PK just a few moments later. Waters would go on to score the PK, however the goal was wiped out due to a player crossing the line early. I thought that means a re-kick, however that was not the case as Braden was awarded a goal kick for the infraction. Braden would go on to put the game away in the 64th Min with a goal from #21 for the 3-1 lead. Again Delray would fight back and earn yet another PK, this time the goal was wiped out because the indirect free kick is not allowed to be shot on goal without being passed from another player first., and that is what happen because of confusion what kind of kick it was. Regardless of the missed chances and mistakes Delray still hung around long enough and battled the entire game. This was a tough game to lose, but a good learning experience. With the loss Delray moves to 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in FSPL play. Braden River moves to 2-0

On Sunday October 11, 2020 AC Delray Rush met up with sister club Miami Rush for the 1st time. Delray proved to be the big sister as they jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first 4 minutes of the game and go on to cruise for the easy 7-0 victory. Some standout performers included Anna Leigh Waters who had 4 goals in the game. Morgan Goldman who would add 2 goals and 3 assists in the game, and Lyla Tafaro would add 2 assist. GK Jaiden Wandtke would go on to record her first shutout and clean sheet of the season.
