David McCurry turned in a strong effort in his first start of the season for the Marple Newtown Black Sox.
McCurry allowed six hits and fanned 11 in six innings to lead the Black Sox to their first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Aston Valley Saturday in the Delco League.
McCurry needed a little help from reliever Steve DiStefano to get the win. Stefano got three groundball outs on eight pitches to nail down the save.
C.J. Costales and Greg Hamrick both went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Black Sox. Tom Carey also had two hits and scored once, while Braden Dean knocked in a run.
