PRESIDENTS END OF SEASON REPORT
Presidents Report 8/23/16
First, I want to congratulate the eight teams that made it to the championship rounds. Luckily weather was good and all teams were able to play their games without any conflicts or changes.
Second, I want to thank all the managers who worked so hard not only through the playoffs but the entire season. Managing a team is extremely difficult task that is always underappreciated. By all your hard work and dedication our season was the most successful season in Stan Musial history, despite all the obstacles we faced.
Lastly, I want to thank our Board of commissioners, without them, the league would never run so smoothly. Bob DePersio did an outstanding job with getting the season schedules and playoff schedules done early so all teams could plan their summer and enjoy their time on the field. Bob and the entire board did a great job communicating with the teams from January to August.
We will now be entering our fall season. We start with Cooperstown on September 2nd and we finish with the First LISM Columbus Day Tournament on October 7th. Let’s continue our standard of excellence into the 2017 season. Once again thank you all!

ALL-STAR DAY AT DUCKS STADIUM
This past Saturday, Long Island Stan Musial held its annual All-Star Day at LI Ducks Stadium under a variety of changeable weather from sunny skies to dark clouds to a misty rain for the last hour and a half. However, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of the players, managers, coaches, parents, family, friends and league officials in attendance as it was two games played and enjoyed by all. There are so many people to thank and if I miss anybody, please know we appreciate all of your efforts in making the day a success. First, I would like thank my Board of Commissioners especially my Deputy, Bryan Spano, who collected all of the player representatives from the teams and Division Commissioner, David Moskowitz, for following up with the teams. They were instrumental in allowing me to get all of the information to the All-Star managers on a timely basis. Next, I would like to thank the managers who volunteered to manage the squads for the day, each of you did a tremendous job in coordinating with each other in preparing the lineups to ensure every player played at least 3 innings and no pitcher pitched more than 1 inning. The one inning was very important to the Board as we worked with managers to ensure that we had enough pitchers to limit pitching which was a problem in previous years. I would also like to thank all of the managers of teams who participated this year in the All-Star game as the attendance of their players was the best we have seen in years, at the 4 PM game 92% of the players showed up and at the 8 PM game 93% of the players showed up, last year the numbers were about 80%. I would like to thank Rich and his entire crew for manning the concession stand and the front gate, they were there all day and did a tremendous job. And last but not least, Jimmy Rose, our League President, who every year obtains Duck Stadium for us, runs around getting the shirts, food, baseballs and everything else for the day.. thank you, Jimmy.... As far as the games, the first game was a hitters paradise as 27 runs were scored as the All-Stars flexed their muscles at the plate and the second game, the pitchers showed their dominance as it was a beautifully played 3 - 1 game to top of the day with the last 4 innings played in a fine mist. Again my thanks to everyone who helped before and after and special thanks to the staff at Ducks Stadium who again went above and beyond. There were a few minor issues with shirts and other things which will be addressed next year as we are always looking to improve. Again, thanks to everyone, we hope you enjoyed and we look forward to next year at LI Duck's Stadium....................Bob DePersio, Sr. LISM Baseball Commissioner
GAME CANCELLATIONS - games can only be canceled for loss of field, forfeits or inclement weather. Teams cannot cancel games for any other reason.
Canceling games affects the integrity of the standings. Six teams canceled games for reasons other than those stated above and after a full review by the Board, each team was assigned one loss or the opportunity to make up the game.
Do not cancel any games except for the three legal reasons. All games must be played as scheduled in fairness to all teams battling for playoff positions.
NEWLY UPDATED LISM LEAGUE MANUAL
The LISM League Manual has been fully updated for 2016 and is listed under the HANDOUTS section on the left.
The manual has information about the Board of Commissioners, opening dates, schedules, playoffs, exempt lists, stats and all the information you need for the season.
It also has new updates including All-Star game changes, new warnings/penalties for player/manager game ejections and new mandatory meetings [in-person or teleconference] for all teams to review rules and requirements prior to the start of the season.
The Board of Commissioners and League President strongly suggest every team print and ready the LISM League Manual.
In addition, a new form will be available shortly that will be required for all teams to complete that will provide the league will all scheduling information and requests. The form will be on-line and will address many of the scheduling questions on availability, start dates and related matters.

LISM Baseball Commissioner
