Coach Bruce Spruell has teamed with Severn Athletic Club (SAC) for this upcoming AAU season 2019!!!  Coach Spruell will be coaching ages 14-15 (9th grade).  This will be a traveling team.  Tryouts/practice will be held starting Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Chesapeake Science Point School, 7321 Parkway Drive South, Hanover, MD 21076.

Practices will be conducted on Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday TBD.   Watch this site for additional times and locations. 

Coach Spruell is a high school head boys' varsity basketball coach and he will be using this time to get these young players ready for high school basketball.  

As well as a coaching high school basketball Coach Spruell has over 20 years of coaching experience in AAU basketball programs such as; Crusader Nation, Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS), Maryland Youth Basketball Association (MYBA) and Harundale Sports League (HYSL).  With Coach Spruell's coaching experience he  knows the importance of getting these young players ready for the next level.  For additional information contact Coach Bruce Spruell at (443)694-1084. 

MAYS Hornets 10 & Under were runner-up to Sam Cassell All-stars in the Maryland State District Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championship game on April 29, 2007 at Morgan State University, Baltimore Maryland. Sam Cassell (Los Angeles Clippers) presented the MAYS Hornets their awards. MAYS will be competing in the 10 and under AAU National tournament held in Coco Beach Florida starting July 15th. Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS) 2008-2009 boys' 12 & Under Winter Basketball Team went undefeated and placed first in the Columbia Ravens 12u Sunday Basketball League. MAYS 12u team also placed first in the Greater Glen Burnie (GGB) Terps 12 & Under Sunday Basketball League. Unfortunately, MAYS 12u team fell one win short of placing first in the Anne Arundel County 12u Division "A" Saturday Basketball League taking second place. Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS) 2009 boys' 12 & under basketball team finished their season undefeated and placed first in the Maryland Sports Plex 12 & Under Tuesday Night Summer Basketball League in Severna Park. CONGRATULATIONS!!! To the undefeated Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS) 12-13u Anne Arundel County "Division A" Boy's Winter Basketball Team 2009-2010 CHAMPIONS!!!

MAYS/Crusader Nation 13 and under boys' Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team placed second (runner-up) in the 2010 AAU Super Regional basketball tournament in Downington, PA. This placement provided this local team the opportunity to represent the state of Maryland in the 2010 AAU Division II National Championship Tournament in Memphis, TN.

This MAYS team also represented the state of Maryland in the Division III AAU National Tournament in Hampton Virginia and placed 5th in this contest. Congratulations again!!!

MAYS 14u/8th Grade are the 2011 National Capital Classic Champions!!! This tournament was held in Chantilly Virginia.
