City of Port St. Lucie Junior Basketball League

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for children participating in youth sports by the following code of ethics:
1. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every game, practice or other youth sporting event.
2.I will place the emotional and physical well being of children ahead of my personal desire to win.
3. I will insist that children play in a safe and healthy environment.
4. I will require that coaches be trained in the responsibilities of being a youth sports coach and that the coach upholds a Coaches' Code of Ethics.
5. I will support coaches and officials working with children in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
6. I will demand a sports environment for all participants that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
7. I will remember that the game is for youth-not adults.
8. I will do my best to make youth sports fun for my child and others.
9. I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
I will read the National Standards for Youth Sports and do what I can to help all youth sports organizations implement and enforce them.
10. I fully support a policy of "ZERO TOLERANCE" to violence, abusive language and such matters detrimental to all players, participants and patrons.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in Port st. Lucie by providing the programs and facilities that facilitate the resident's pursuit of culture and recreatiion in a safe and enjoyable setting. We will pursue this goal with the understanding of contributing to the attractiveness of the community, conservation of the environment and the social and economic health of the city.
