SBSL Rules Updates According to Fifa/IFAB

Substitutions

-Players are allow to leave the field anywhere on their half of the field of the players side.  This is done to speed up the game.  They do not need to get to midfield to leave.

-Either team can substitute during any stoppage...the play does not need to be in their favor.  Substitutions are allow as well during free kicks, corner kicks and PKs.

-If a player if fouled in the box and awarded a PK.  If the coach is required to come out to the field, the player is no longer forced to leave.  The player can still remain in the game and take the PK if selected.

As always......Allowing substitutions is at the discretion of the referee.

DROP BALL

-If there is a drop ball in a PK/Goalie box, the ball will be rolled back to the Keeper to pick up and play will resume.

-If attacking team passes the ball and it hits the ref and attacking team losses possession/momentum, the ref will reward drop ball to the prior attacking team.

-Player who received drop ball cannot have anyone with 4.5 yards of them and they are allowed to pass or dribble to continue play.

COIN TOSS

-Teams when win the toss can select to kick or start on defense...or they can select what part of field they want to start the game on.

CARDING DURING PLAY

-If an infraction occurs and the attacking team wants to do a quick kick, the ref will allow them to do so.  They will wait to a dead ball period to issue the yellow card.  Card can be issued any time after the infraction.

-Player with 1st yellow card must leave the game for 5 minutes.

-SBSL can report coach's behavior to referee coordinator, and in turn ref coordinator and/or SBSL Board can determine if a yellow or red card if warranted and have it issued.

-If there is dissent towards the referee from coaching staff and the referee cannot determine who made the comment, the referee can issue the card to the head coach.

SBSL POLICY - WE ARE ISSUING AN ERA OF ZERO TOLERANCE...REFS WILL BE QUICK TO CARD ANYONE WHO IS IN VIOLATION OF DISSENT.
