New York State Soccer Hall of Fame Induction
Holiday Inn, Middletown New York
Saturday November 10, 2018

     
Bobby Schimpf

On November 10, 2018 Bobby Schimpf became the fifth Suffolk County recipient inducted
into the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame. The ceremony has held at the Holiday
Inn in Middletown, New York. Bobby had all his family on hand including his wife Doretta 
and son, Danny to celebrate the induction.
The induction was the high light of an awesome weekend of soccer. Twenty soccer teams 
from all eleven Sections of New York State gathered to decide the 2018 Boy's High School
Championships. Amityville captured their second NYS Class-A Championship.
Bobby has dedicated himself to Suffolk County soccer. Bob is the boys varsity soccer coach
at Bayport/Blue Point High School. He has coached at Northport, Longwood, Eastport, 
Shoreham/Wading River and Sayville High School. Bob has served as president and is one 
of the founding members of the Suffolk County Soccer Coaches Association in which he has
been active for over 30 years. Bob was inducted into the Manhatten College Hall of Fame 
in 2017. After college bob began coaching at the club, collegiate and High School levels.

joins four other Hall of Famers from Suffolk County. Al Ellis was inducted in 2012. Mike Huey
was inducted in 20

New York State Soccer Hall of Fame Induction

Holiday Inn, Middletown New York
Saturday November 16, 2012

On November 16, 2012 Al Ellis became the forth Suffolk County recipient inducted
into the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame. The ceremony has held at the Holiday
Inn in Middletown, New York. Al had all his family members on hand including his wife
Sharon, three sons, Jeff, Scott and Steven along with their wives to celebrate the induction.
Al's three grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler and Savanna also attended. Al's former player and
former assistant coach, Chris Reilly, was on hand to do the introduction. The induction
was the high light of an awesome weekend of soccer. Although there were no Suffolk
County teams in Middletown, twenty soccer teams from all over the state gathered to
decide the 2012 Boy's High School Championships.
Al has dedicated himself to Suffolk County soccer. He is the Section-XI Assistant Soccer
Chairman and SCSCA Vice President. Al taught physical education at Rocky Point High
School for 34 years before retiring in 2004. He coached baseball, track and 29 varsity
soccer teams at Rocky Point compiling 339 victories. Al has also coached at Westhampton
and has been an assistant coach under Val Winter at Sayville High School since 2010.
That first season Sayville went (20-1-1) and captured the NYS Class-A Championship in
Middletown. Al also started and runs a 90 team summer soccer league for Brookhaven
Town Recreation. That league started in 1981 with only six teams. Al received two NYS
Coach of the Year awards and in 2004 was honored with the NSCAA's Robbie Robinson
Award for service to High School soccer. In 2008 Al was inducted into the Suffolk County
Sport Hall of Fame.

National Soccer Hall of Fame Museum, Oneonta New York

Mike Huey

On November 15, 2008 Mike Huey became the third Suffolk County recipient inducted into the
New York State Soccer Hall of Fame. The ceremony has held at the National Soccer Hall of Fame
Museum in Oneonta, New York.
Mike had many family members on hand including his daughter
Dawn and his son David. The Mattituck School District was well represented as many coaches,
administrators and school board members traveled to Oneonta for the induction. The induction
was the high light of an awesome weekend of soccer. Two Suffolk County teams, Brentwood and
Comsewogue captured NYS Championships as the best twenty soccer teams in the state gathered
to decide the 2008 Boy's High School Championships.
Mike has dedicated himself to Suffolk County soccer. He is the Section-XI Soccer Chairman and
has been a physical education teacher, varsity soccer, varsity tennis coach and Athletic Director at
Mattituck High School for over thirty years. Mike will retire at the end of the 2009 school year but
will stay on as the Section-XI Soccer Chairman for boy's soccer.

CONGRATULATIONS
to Mike Huey and his family on this very deserving award. Other Hall of Famers
from Section-XI include Bill Lown who was inducted in 1989 and John Eden who was inducted in 2005.

The Suffolk County Coaches Association was very proud to honor two former varsity
soccer coaches at their annual All-Star Banquet held at Villa Lombardi of Holbrook.
John Eden and Bill Lown received their Hall of Fame induction "rings." Bill Lown was
inducted into the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame in 1998 while John Eden was
inducted in 2005. The Hall of Fame "rings" were purchased by Anaconda Sports and
presented to all the past Hall of Famers at the New York State Soccer Championships
at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta,New York. Bill Lown was a former
Varsity Soccer Coach and Athletic Director at Brentwood High School. He also served
as the Suffolk County Soccer Chairman until 1999. John Eden was the former Varsity
Soccer Coach at North Babylon High School.

(National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention, January 19, 2004)
The National Soccer Coaches of America would like to announce and congratulate Coach Al
Ellis of Rocky Point High School. The NSCAA & Adidas honored Coach Ellis with the
"Robert W. Robinson" Award at the NSCAA convention in Baltimore. The award is given to
a High School coach who goes the "extra mile" in giving back to the game of soccer. At the
Hall of Fame in Oneonta, New York Coach Ellis was selected as the... 2004 New York State
Large School Coach of the Year. He won the same award in 1998. Congratulation to Coach
Ellis and all the teams he has coached. Coach Ellis just completed his 28th varsity season as
head coach at Rocky Point High School. He has compiled 339 victories, 12 League
Championships, 1 Suffolk County Title, 3 Class 'B' Championships and in 1984 won the New
York State Class 'B' Championship (1-0) over Clarence High School from Buffalo. It was
the only NYS Championship game that was ever decided in sudden-victory overtime.
