A Little About Us...

We are a recreational men's floor hockey league. We play on Sunday nights at Great Skate in St. Peters. We exist to give men (18 and older) a chance to have some fun playing hockey.

-No skates are required as we play in shoes. We do require shin guards.
-The cost for the league is a team fee of $1,100 for a 10-game session.
-We have 2 paid officials and a working scoreboard.
- One of our paid officials runs the scoreboard and will keep track of stats for all registered players.
- If your team wants us to keep your stats, you'll need to purchase a t-shirty jersey. They cost $20 and will have your own custom name and number on the back. It will have the league logo and team name on the front.
-Goalies wear full equipment.
-Line changes can happen on the fly.

If you have any questions about the league, please feel free to send an email to stcfhl@gmail.com or head over to our Facebook page and message us through there at http://www.facebook.com/stcfhl

Floor Hockey Rules

We use standard roller hockey rules, with a few tweaks.

-We play 3 periods that are 15 minutes each with a running clock. If the game is within 2 goals in the final 2 minutes, we will stop the clock for whistles. There is a 1-minute intermission between periods.
-We play 5 on 5 plus a goalie.
-We will give the teams about to play at least a 2-minute warm up, unless they are okay to pass on it if we are behind on time.
-The game start time is when we drop the ball to start the game. unless we are running behind because of games going over time.
-In the event of a tie, we will play a 3-minute 3v3 Sudden Death Overtime. The clock will run during this time. If there is still no winner, we will have a 3 round shootout with a different shooter for each round. If there is still a tie after 3 rounds, we will go round to round sudden death. Once it goes to sudden death in the shootout, you can send anyone to shoot, no limitations, even if they have shot before. Overtime and shootout losses count as normal losses, no extra points are awarded. But can help you in the case of a tiebreaker for playoff seeding.

-There are no offsides or icing.
-The only contact allowed is basketball-like contact, i.e. boxing out. If it is getting a little to aggressive or too much contact, the ref might give a warning and will eventual call a penalty if teams do not adjust.
-Penalties that can be called are TRIPPING (if your stick is stepped on without you reaching for the ball, no penalty), SLASHING (if you catch their foot or leg while going for the ball, no call), ROUGHING, HOLDING, HIGH STICKING (you must always be in control of your stick. If stick makes contact with someone's face, penalty will be called. Blood will be a double minor), CROSS-CHECKING, DELAY OF GAME, UNSPORTSMANLIKE, TOO MANY MEN ON THE RINK (if guy jumps on and plays the ball before changing man is off, penalty will be called). We understand that most penalties are not done intentionally, but if one of these penalties occur, we will call a penalty. We won't catch everything, so please show the referees grace.
-Penalties run for 2 minutes and will be running clock. If a goal scored while on the Power Play, the player in the penalty box will come out.
-We will blow the whistle immediately when the infraction occurs, no delayed penalties.
-There is absolutely NO FIGHTING. Fighting will result in a season long ban minimum with no refund.
-We do have a 10-goal mercy rule. If ever at any point in a game, the score goes to a 10 goal difference, we will call the game. The two teams playing, however, can play around until their allotted time is up with no official.
-Hand passes are allowed ONLY in the defensive zone. Any infraction that occurs will result in a faceoff in the zone of the team that caused the infraction. Infractions include, but are not limited to, penalties, offensive zone hand pass, high sticking, crease violation, etc.
-Line changes can happen on the fly, but the player going off must be at the boards when the change occurs. If a player jumping on the court plays the ball while the player coming off isn't off yet, we will call a penalty for TOO MANY MEN. Teams are allowed to pull their goalie for an extra "skater."

PLAYOFF GAMES AND SEEDING
-The top 4 teams will make the playoffs for that specific session. (In the event that there are only 4 teams in the session, there will be a championship game between the top 2 seeds and a consolation game between the bottom 2 seeds).

-In the case of a tie in season standings, here are the tiebreakers:
    1. Head to head record.
    2. Head to head goal differential.
    3. Total goals for.
    4. Coin Flip
-Regulation and Overtime losses are valued the same, no points for a OT loss. Shootout wins, however, do not mean us much as a regulation or OT win. So, if the head to head goal differential is the same, but Team A won their game in OT, and Team B won their game in a shootout, then Team A would own the tiebreaker.
-Playoffs will take place the week after the final game of the regular season. Team 1 will play Team 4. Team 2 will play Team 3. There will be a short break, and then the winners will play each other for the championship.
-All the rules are the same during the playoffs except for Overtime/Shootout. In the event of a tie after regulation, we will just start another period 4v4 and play until one team scores. We will play as many periods as needed to get a winner.
