Player Time Rules and Guidelines

No amount of rules can cover every situation that arises during a game.  These are the most basic fair and equitable guidelines that we should meet in order to run a productive league, as long as all the coaches involved play fair and respect the honor and integrity of each other and the game.

The following rules guidelines and player designations may be adjusted on a game by game basis depending on player attendance, player development, and coaches cooperation.

Each team must designate their least skilled players as "B" players according to the chart below, "B" stands for beginner. This is based on talent not grade.

13 total = 6 "B" players

12 total = 6 "B" players

11 total = 5 "B" players

10 total = 5 "B" players

9   total = 5 "B" players + 1 A/B

8   total = 5 "B" players + 2 A/B

All "A/B" players must be approved by the opposing coach.  No player that plays in the 4th period will be allowed to play in the 5th period, unless approved by the the opposing coach or league rep.

"B" players must be assigned on score sheets before the game starts. All subs must check in at table before entering game. Only a referee may stop a game to allow substitutions.

No 5th or 8th graders should play in the "B" period if possible, unless approved by the league rep in charge.

If an "A" period player must play in the "B" period due to player injury or if a "B" player fouled out, they can only rebound and pass, unless approved by the opposing coach or league rep in charge.

All players regardless of skill level should be given equal playing time.

In the girls division grades 3 thru 5 play in the "B" period and 6 thru 8 play in the "A" period.  Unless agreed upon by opposing coach or league rep.

All disputes will be decided by the league rep in charge and will be final. Any coach that shows disrespect for the table scorer or a referee will receive a technical foul. At any time during a game the player rep in charge may tell a coach that a player cannot go back into a game if he feels the players action or actions on the court may be dangerous for other players.

Each team in the league will have one head coach and at least one assisting coach but not more than two assistant coaches. Only two coaches are allowed on the bench during a given game.

Coaches may be replaced during the year with approval of the executive board. The division coordinator will provide the board with the reason why a replacement is needed. Coaches may be asked to leave the league due to conduct that is detrimental to the league. Coaches are also expected to follow all league rules and support the league in its objective to provide a quality recreation basketball program. They are also expected to help with the program beyond coaching their team, they are expected to help either before or after their games with cleanup or whatever needs to be done.

All players are only allowed to participate in the league for 3 years in Juniors and 3 years in Seniors for a total of 6 years. No player is allowed to play up in either division. Any parent that lfalsifies the registration form, their child and themselves will be banned from the league.
