This league has a rich history dating back 30 years, when a group of individuals came together with the vision of creating and fostering a fun and competitive environment for the youth of the area in East Austin and formed what later became the Central Austin Youth League (CAYL). CAYL first had its humble beginnings as Thorpe Fields, which consisted of only two lowly fields, and flourished into five fields as the Greater East Austin Youth League, which it operated under for many years. However, in the Fall of 2007, it was renamed to CAYL in order to make the positive changes necessary for the organization to move forward according to the community's vision.
