“Follow the Heart”
The JP Page Memorial Scholarship Fund
On behalf of Jerome “JP” Page, Jr and his family, Chamberlayne Laburnum Little League has created the JP Page Memorial Scholarship Fund for youth interested in playing baseball at Chamberlayne Laburnum LL but are unable to afford the registration cost. This fund shall be on an as needed basis and selections made by the Executive Board by a majority vote.
I know that JP touched many of you in a meaningful way with his happy, joking, bubbly demeanor. His love for the sport of baseball and his caring spirit…. Put in perfect words, “follow the heart” is exactly what JP did even in his last days….. he was able to donate six organs to other individuals that they may have a better life. I can't think of a better way to show how important it is to follow the heart just like JP did by helping others. This is why his Memorial Fund shall have so much meaning. I selected this scholarship fund for many reasons. JP enjoyed baseball, he loved the younger kids at our league, he was caring and very generous.
When we follow our heart, we do what feels good. It gives us a sense of accomplishment. In keeping the memory of JP alive, I ask you to consider making a charitable gift to the JP Page Memorial Scholarship Fund. Your donation could save the life of a loss child that has no recreational alternatives.
All tax deductible donations should go to:

FIRST AID/ CPR TRAINING
Boy Survives After Baseball Stops Heart
(April 8) - A boy whose heart stopped after a freak baseball game accident is alive today because his quick-thinking mother and two other nurses gave him CPR immediately.
Kyle McCammon was trying to steal third base at a Cordova, Tenn., field when it hit him -- a thrown baseball, right in the chest. But instead of just knocking the wind out of the 12-year-old, the ball made his heart stop, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported
Three nurses -- Kyle's mother, Mary McCammon among them -- rushed over and began CPR within a minute of his collapse, Memphis TV station WMC-TV reported. By the time paramedics arrived at the field, Kyle had regained consciousness. The diagnosis? Commotio cordis: Commotion or concussion of the heart.
"It's very rare," emergency services physician Dr. Barry Gilmore told the Commercial Appeal. "The overall survival rate is 15 percent," he said. "The ones who have immediate CPR or a defibrillator -- within the first one to three minutes -- survive."
Kyle is doing fine, and McCammon's coaches said they plan to get CPR training.
PARENTS,
I am available to do CPR training for coaches and parents at a discounted rate of $35.00. We have been very fortunate that none of our kids have gotten hurt in this way but we should be prepared.
