When are tryouts held for Dixie Belles?
Tryouts are held annually in the Spring and are open to anyone entering grades 9-12 that meets the BISD eligibility requirements.

What is the judging criteria for Dixie Belle tryouts?
A workshop is held prior to auditions---candidates will be taught two(2) routines on which they will be judged; a specified jazz routine and high kick routine.

When do Dixie Belle's practice?
7th period and after school several days per week. Additional practices as needed.

How are Dixie Belle officers chosen?
Officer tryouts are also held in the Spring. Candidates must be a sophomore, junior or senior for the following year, and have been a member of the team the year preceding tryouts. Each candidate must create an original routine and perform a variety of other assignments as designated by the director.

What does it cost to be a Dixie Belle?
The girl's are required to purchase their uniforms, boots, hats, accessories, etc, as well as their camp expenses. Officers have additional costs. There are numerous opportunities to fundraise to help defray some of these expenses.
