Lady Knights
Subscribe to our NewsletterDear Lady Knight Candidate and Parent,
I would like to personally welcome you to the world of cheerleading! I am thrilled that you are interested in becoming a part of the Irvington Golden Knights family.
The Irvington Golden Knights Cheerleading program’s goals are to teach new cheerleaders the basic fundamentals of cheerleading and to help build and expand upon the skills of more experienced cheerleaders.
We provide a safe and fun learning environment in which our cheerleaders will also learn the meaning of teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship and hard work. There are no tryouts to become a Lady Knight. All girls who sign up are assigned to a team depending upon their age and skill level.
All of the Irvington Golden Knights Cheerleading coaches have had background checks and have been either a cheerleader or has experience in coaching.
Cheerleading is a tremendous team sport that will challenge you both physically and mentally. When all is said and done, you will be walking away from this season having learned a lot of cool tricks, having grown in your character and poise, and having created lasting memories with your new cheer family.
If you are new to this whole experience, take a deep breath. There is a lot of information to take in, not to mention the nervousness of attempting a new sport. Fear not – we are committed to keeping this process relaxed, comfortable and stress-free. We have an incredibly competent, equipped staff and are confident that we can help you reach your potential.
If you are returning to the GK family, I want to thank you for your support and commitment as we continue to grow. Your participation has been a building block in our program, and your heart has built a family for those who are new. I look forward to working with you again and creating an even greater Golden Knights legacy!
Thank you,
Nicole Warden
Cheer Coordinator
Cheer Corner
Our cheer season officially begins in August 2016, by national rule. Occasionally, the national board of directors may approve a start date that is a few days earlier, depending on the calendar. We practice from two to three days a week. Most of our practices are held on weekday evenings, with some Saturday practices, dates and times are subject to change as needed to accommodate use of practice facilities or game schedules.
The girls have Cheer Conditioning Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 6pm - 8pm at Union Avenue School, Irvington NJ. There are no additional fees to attend conditioning however there will be a cost for practice uniforms. Parents of Irvington Golden Knights participants are required to do a minimum of 4 pre-approved volunteer hours per family for the league during the season (depending on the size of he cheer teams you may be asked to do additional hours).
