LIISL - Long Island Indoor Soccer League Rules

UNIFORMS - Each team must wear different color jerseys.

Each team should bring their team color jersey and an alternate lighter and/or darker jersey or pinnies.

Each team's primary jersey color is listed on the website next to their team name.

In the case of a color conflict, it is the responsibility of EACH TEAM to have an alternate with them. There is no determination as to which team must change their color.

DURATION OF PLAY - There will be two (2) twenty five (25) minute halves with a half-time break.

The clock will run continuously during play. The clock will be stopped, at the discretion of the referee, for an unusually serious injury or similarly extreme circumstance.  Referees are instructed to begin the clock on the hour.  The clock will begin on the hour in order to ensure that all games begin and end on time, whether or not teams are ready to begin play.

If you do not have a full team ready to play, at their discretion, the opponent may begin play after 3 min has passed from the scheduled game start.

No half can end on a corner kick, penalty shot, or free kick.

REFEREE - All decisions by the referees are final.

Any verbal abuse of a referee may result in a penalty card and/or ejection from a game. Any physical interaction with a referee WILL result in a game and league ejection.

Referees must be paid their ref fee prior to the start of each game

FORFEIT - A forfeit by your team will result in a 5-0 loss and incur a forfeit fee equal to the ref fee x2. This is to be paid before the start of your next game. Multiple forfeits in the same season may result in removal from the league. A forfeit within the last 2 weeks of the regular season will incur a forfeit fee equal to the ref fee x3.

EQUIPMENT - All soccer shoes are permitted except for replaceable or metal studs. Shinguards are recommended.

CEILING - If the ball hits the ceiling, the ball is dead and an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team.

FREE KICKS - The ball must be stationary before taking a free kick. Defenders must move 5 yards back when a free kick is awarded, only if requested by the player taking the free kick. If the 5 yards is requested, players must wait for the referee’s whistle to begin play.

All free kicks are indirect, including corner kicks.

THROW-INS - Players may throw the ball directly back to the Keeper who may then catch it with his hands.

PENALTY KICKS - All penalties by a defending player within the penalty area shall result in a penalty kick.

SLIDING - For the safety of all players, there is no sliding. Players may slide during game play only when opponents are at a safe distance and far enough to avoid injury. It will be at the sole discretion of the referee to determine if the slide jeopardized a player's safety.

SUBSTITUTIONS - Substitutions may be made "on the fly" at any time, without approval of the referee or possession of the ball.  Players have to be within ten (10) feet of the touch line before the substitute may enter the field of play.  Keeper substitutions can only occur at a stoppage with the permission of the referee.

OFFSIDE - There are no offside calls.

PLAYOFFS - Playoff seeding will first be determined by pts.

In the case of a tie [in pts], the 1st tie-breaker will be record in head to head games between the tied teams.

If a 2nd tie-breaker is needed, it will be determined by GA [goals against].

If in the rare case a 3rd tie-breaker is necessary, it will be determined by GD [goal differential].

If there are more than 2 teams tied in pts at the end of the season, the head to head record of those tied teams playing against each other will determine their seeding.

For playoff games: In the case of draw at the end of regualtion there will be a 5 minute Golden Goal period. If still tied, then the game will go immediately into a five round PK shootout, followed by single PKs. The only acception to this would be if at the end of regulation, both teams agree to forgo Golden Goal and go directly to the PK shootout. BOTH teams would need to agree to this.

FIGHTING -

FIGHTING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED

Team managers will be responsible for ensuring that all players on their team are aware of this along with all other rules.

Any player engaging in fighting will be banned from the league with no refund.  The entire team may also be ejected from the league with no refund.

Be aware that each team is responsible in part for the players they have playing on their team for any given game.

FOULS - Players will be warned or booked for Yellow or Red cards at the referee's discretion. Players given 2 yellow cards during the same game will be charged with a "soft red" and will need to sit out the remainder of the game, able to substituted on by another player. If a player receives a straight red during the game, they will not be able to play the remainder of the game and their team will play a man down. If the referee deems necessary, the player may be asked to leave the facility. If the player refuses, their team would forfeit the game.

Severity of the red card may include disciplinary action by the league, including but not limited to the player being banned from additional games, the remainder of the season, or a ban from the league completely.

CURSING - Cursing is prohibited.  Any player who curses may be ejected from the game.
