Dec 20 - Those interested in playing softball have been working out since the start of the school year with the exception of those playing in another sport at the high school. We have been working out 2 days a week, Tuesday & Thursday. We have broken out to two groups, but have not set teams yet. Players from other sports still need to tryout and will be given an opportunity to tryout after their sport has concluded. The skill level is very high and most are playing softball on travel teams.
Work outs are designed to judge the talent and introduce the player to the coaching staff. This help both player and coach to know each other. Players will get an idea about how the program operates and what it will take to make a team. It is a huge challenge to handle both academics and athletics at the same time. The players will be measured by their GPA and their performance on the field. San Dimas has two teams, Varsity and Junior Varsity. This allows for only around 30 players to make a team. We had over 60 sign up the year. It is plain to see that their will be competition for spots on a team. Most players are playing on teams now. If not it is important to start work out to be ready for the final try outs at the start of the new year.
