SOUTH BRUNSWICK HIGH SCHOOL COACHING STAFF

CHRIS HAYSTON - HEAD VARSITY COACH
Coach Hayston has been the Viking Soccer Varsity Head Coach since 2003. After taking over for Mark Ziminiski, Coach Hayston has compiled a 163 - 96 - 11 record over the past four seasons. The Vikings were the GMC Red Division Champions in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2018 and were GMC Middlesex County finalists in 2003,2007,2009,2012, 2013, 2015,2016,2017,2018,2019 winning the title in 2009 and were co champs in 2015.. The team has reached the GMC semi finals in 15 of the last 17 seasons and has qualified for the state tournament in every season Coach Hayston has been in charge.  Coach Hayston was also named the 2003 and 2009 Middlesex County Star Ledger Coach of the year, Red Division Coach of the year in 2007,2008,2009,2014,2015, and 2018 and was the GMC Coach of the year in 2018. 

Coach Hayston served as the freshman soccer coach at South Brunswick from 2000-2002 prior to becoming the varsity head coach. During that time, the South Brunswick program went from an 8 - 9 - 1 season and finishing fifth in the Red Division, to becoming Red Division Champions and Central Jersey Group IV State Champions. It is the only sectional championship in school history.

Prior to arriving at South Brunswick, Coach Hayston played three years of varsity soccer at The College of New Jersey under Head Coach George Nazario. He was a member of the 1997 squad that finished ranked #2 in the final NCAA Division III rankings after losing to Wheaton, Illinois in the national final. In his senior year, Coach Hayston was a starter on a team that finished in second place in the NJAC (1999). He also won the team coaches award for his efforts that season.

Coach Hayston was an a three year varsity letter winner at Monroe High School where he was selected to the All White Division, All County, and Honorable Mention All State teams in his senior season (1995).

Currently, Coach Hayston is a math teacher at South Brunswick High School and resides in East Windsor, New Jersey with his wife Elizabeth and daughters Madeline and Josephine.

JEFF KING - ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH
Coach King has been our Junior Varisty Head Coach since 2003. During that time, Coach King has been instrumental in the development of our players and our program. Coach King teams have had a winning season each year he has been in charge.

Prior to arriving at South Brunswick, coached club soccer in West Windsor and Cranbury for 3 years. Before moving to New Jersey in 2000, Coach King was the Head Varsity Coach for Aiken High School in South Carolina.

As a player, Coach King played 2 years of varsity soccer at USC - Aiken after playing 1 year of varsity soccer for Central Michigan. In high school, Coach King won 3 varsity letter for Dow High in Michigan. As a senior, he was honored as a 1st team All-State player.

Presently, Coach King is a history teacher at SBHS and he resides in Northern Burlington, NJ with his wife Lisa and sons Jacob and Danny.

SCOTT MCMANUS - HEAD FRESHMAN BOYS COACH
Coach McManus has been our freshman coach since 2006. During that time, Coach McManus has done great things with our freshman. His enthusiasm and love of the game, knowledge of the game, and ability to work with our young players has made a positive impact on our program. Coach McManus does a great job of introducing our players to what high school athletics is all about.

Prior to becoming our freshman coach, Coach McManus was the Head B team coach at Crossroads from 2004 - 2005.

As a player, Coach McManus was a 3 year varsity letter winner in soccer at Glassboro State College (Rowan, (1988-1990)) after transfering from Mount Union where he earned a varsity letter in 1987. During his senior year at Rowan, Coach McManus captained Glassboro State College to the 1990 NCAA Division III national title. In high school, Coach McManus won four varsity letters at Watchung Hills High School where they won their division his senior year.

Currently, Coach McManus is a history teacher at Crossroads North Middle School and he resides in Flemington, NJ with his wife Christine and his two childern, Nina and Gavin.
