2022 FALL CHEER SEASON INFORMATION

                                                                                                    Eligibility:

Registration is open to all athletes and is not limited to the Wells Elementary School attendance boundaries. Athletes who live outside of Chesterfield County are eligible to participate!! (A $15.00 fee will be assessed for non-county residents.  

                                                                                             Age Requirements :
                  5-14 years old with age being determined as of 9/30 of current year for Flag, Minor, Junior, and Senior cheerleaders who are not aging out.
                                     **Age for seniors cheering during their last year of eligibility will be determined as of 12/31 of current year.

                                                                                                                            Cost:

Registration is $135 (due at time of registration) and includes cheer t-shirt, cheer bows (regular season and Breast Cancer bow for October), competition fees, and camp.

     Uniform cost is $175 (due at time of fitting) and is in addition to the registration fee.  All new cheerleaders will need to purchase the new uniform package unless a gently used uniform can be purchased during our uniform resale/exchange. Returning cheerleaders who need to make a partial uniform purchase will be able to do so at that time as well.  A date will be announced for the uniform fitting at which time any uniforms for sale will be available on a first come, first served basis.

All coaches undergo background checks through Chesterfield County and safety training prior to starting the season.

Practice:

Each squad will practice on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00-7:45 pm two weeknights a week at Goyne Park through the end of September. (Flag level normally ends earlier)

Starting in October we move to closed practices indoors at Ecoff Elementary School.

Games:

The season (sideline and competition) extends through the end of October/beginning of November.  All squads will cheer on the sidelines during their games and perform at halftime. 

Games are played on Saturday mornings or afternoons. Occasionally, a Wednesday night game will be played. On Saturday mornings, Flag games typically begin at 9:00 AM followed by Minors at 10:00 AM, Juniors at 11:00 AM and Seniors at 12:00 noon. However, the actual starting times depend on the ending time of the previous game. For Saturday evening games, Flag typically plays at 5:00 PM followed by Minors at 6:00PM, Juniors at 7:00PM, and Seniors in order. We do ask teams to arrive an hour before the game starts to warm up and practice.

** The Chesterfield Quarterback League (CQL) sets the game schedules. Wells Athletic Association (WAA)  has no control over when it is published, or any changes made to the schedule. WAA will communicate schedule availability as soon as it is posted by CQL. A copy of the Fall Football schedule WILL NOT be available at the time of registration

                                                             Competition:

Athletes will also have the opportunity to compete in cheer competitions during the season. Cheerleaders who participate in competition and athletes must commit to mandatory practice attendances. Athletes may choose to opt out of competition.
