• Notable: In the first game of a best-of-three series against Refugio, the junior lefthander pitched all 10 innings of a 2-1 win Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 23 batters. He struck out 16 through the first seven innings and struck out the side in the ninth and 10th innings.
• Quotable: “He looked like he actually got stronger later in the game. It was kind of surreal. We’ve seen him having great outings, no-hitters and one-hitters. To do this in the playoffs and do it against a playoff team and watch how bad he was making them look, it was pretty amazing.”
