10U Softball Information

Ages: 9 & 10 years                             Those born in the years 2009 & 2010

Seasons Offered: Spring and Fall Season

10U Overview:
This is by far the biggest transition for the players as they progress from intramural play to county-level play. An 11 inch regulation softball is used. Crofton has enjoyed continued success in this age bracket, supported particularly with kid fastpitch in 8U and participation in Fall Ball. 10U play is entirely kid fastpitch with real umpires. From walks to base stealing to running on overthrows, the game is much faster and realistic. Pitchers and catchers have tremendous importance, with Fall Ball and winter clinics provide the extra instruction and time required to develop these positions. Win / loss records are maintained and teams play a 12-14 game regular season culminating in a two week season ending elimination tournament. There is a wide-variety of skill levels at this age on every team, yet each girl improves dramatically throughout the season and learns to be part of a team.
