Three strikes and you’re in!
The ABC’s of coaching an IBL team are:
1. Application: The IBL website is up and running and ready for coaches to apply.
2. Background Check: Once you’re on the website application, follow instructions to provide permission for the background check.
3. Continuing Education: CCE consist of two parts, an on-line portion and an in person training. Once you complete the coaches application the on-line CCE information will be sent to you. In person CCE training TBA.
IBL recognizes that player development and enjoyment is directly related to coaching competency. Better coaching is often the difference between a player enjoying the sport and developing their baseball skills or not progressing. When players have an enjoyable time, they are more engaged and naturally gain more advanced skills. For these reasons, IBL has instituted a Coaches Continuing Education (CCE) plan with 3 main goals:
- Provide coaches with teaching techniques, learning styles, examples, and drills;
- Improve the baseball and teaching skills of Coaches and Players;
- Increase coach and player retention;
CCE requirements apply to all managers, coaches, assistant coaches, etc., participating in any Division of IBL. Training is required annually, to be completed by June 1st, and includes an online component with additional in person (classroom/field) training when applicable. The location changes from class to class when offered, see IBL website for current information, or ask your Division Coordinator.
From time to time, and as warranted, IBL may offer a supplemental CCE in-person course to further drive home the concepts and strategies that we feel make a successful coaching experience. When these in-person classes are offered, information will be communicated through all major communication lines at IBL's disposal.
Requirements for Coaching:
Note: Head Coaches are required to complete all requirements prior to Team Formations.
Complete a Coaches Application:
Please complete the online form, or complete the application and return by email or to IBL, PO Box 74805, Fairbanks AK 99707. Hard copy applications will also be available at the Skills Assessments.
Complete a Background Check:
The cost of the background check is paid for by IBL. You’ll be receiving a link emailed to you from Mesa Matheny, Office Manager for IBL. If you haven’t received the link, please contact Mesa at interiorbaseball@gmail.com. To learn more about how and why the IBL completes background checks, please review IBL Policy no. 10.

Register for Coach's Continuing Education Classes
Game Reports must be filled out and turned in to your Division Coordinator immediately after each game.
