Cicero-North Syracuse pitcher Kalet Lenart was named tournament MVP after the Northstars defeated Brockport, 5-1 in the championship game of the 32nd annual James "Ace" Morabito Memorial Softball Tournament at the Mudville Complex at Herkimer.
Lenart (5-0, 1.06 ERA) pitched a two hitter with eight strikeouts in the win. She pitched 14 innings yielding just two unearned runs, eight hits and 13 strikeouts in earning MVP honors.
Morgan Phillips cracked a home run and drove in two runs and Lindsay Silfer hit a home run as well for the Northstars (17-1)
Earlier in the day, C-NS defeated Valley Central out of Setion 9, 2-0 in the semifinal game. Sydney O'Hara pitched a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts. Amy VanHoven had a double and a triple and Lindsey Silfer drove in a run inthe victory.
Liverpool won both its games with a 7-3 win over Clarkstown South and 10-1 over Suffern.
Taylor Charles drove in three runs and had a triple and Alicia Hansen hit another homerun in the win over Clarkstown South.
Ericka Sadowski went 4x5 with 2 RBI and a double and Allyse Burgos went 3x4 with a RBI and a double in Liverpool's 10-1 win over Suffern.
Emily Acquaviva hit another home run to lead New Hartford to a 7-5 win over Msgr. Preston. Acquaviva now leads Section III in home runs with nine.
The Spartans (13-3) won the nightcap with a 5-3 victory over Franklin Academy.
