Background Checks
The SPGSA requires all coaches and volunteers to undergo a criminal activity and child abuse background screening. These background checks are now to be conducted every year. USA Softball has made the process easy for us. Just go to their background check webpage and complete the three links listed.

Concussion Certification
The SPGSA requires all coaches and volunteers to complete the free online learning program Concussion In Sports offered jointly by the CDC and the NFHS through the NFHS Learning Center. Upon completion of the program submit a copy of your certificate of completion to SPGSA

If you rather, you can still use the older method, though you may still be charged a fee. The older method is listed below.
There are two steps to completing the background checks and each involves a $10 fee. First, visit the below website and complete a Pennsylvania Criminal Record History check:
https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
Once you have received your complete Pennsylvania Criminal Record History from the PA State Police, make a copy of the completed document for your records, and then visit this site for instructions on obtaining a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance check:
http://www.dpw.state.pa.us/ServicesPrograms/ChildWelfare/003671038.htm
To complete the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance check, you will need to download form CY-113 from the above site, complete it, attach your Pennsylvania Criminal Record History check, and mail all documents with a $10 fee to the address indicated on the form.
When both the Pennsylvania Criminal Record History and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance checks have been completed and returned to you, make copies for your records, and then deliver the forms to the SPGSA Secretary or your age group commissioner.
