Subscribe to our NewsletterWelcome to St. Edward’s CYO Girls Softball Page
Our CYO program is designed to provide Girls residing within the St. Edwards community with the opportunity to participate in an organized Softball program. The foundation of the program is to promote & teach Softball skills in a Christian environment that emphasizes sportsmanship & fair play. We welcome all children in our community from grades K through 12. Girls of all skill levels and experience, grades K-12, are welcome. You must provide a softball glove. All other equipment is provided by the league. All team members will play in every game they attend and everyone earns a trophy at our year end Awards/Pizza night. Practice and games will begin in April and run through June.
Below is a description of each of our programs.
Clinic Program
The Clinic Program introduces our Kindergarten and First grade girls to the fundamentals skills of Softball. The Clinic, offered once per week on Saturday mornings, provides one hour of instructional Softball (no games). Please note that the Clinic is available to only children in grade K-2. There are no exceptions to this rule. The Clinic is expected to run from mid-April and to be completed by June. Each player will receive a team shirt. The fee is $100 per player.
Intramural Program
The Intramural Program provides children in grades 2 through 12 with the opportunity to play games in a structured league setting. Players are selected onto various teams via a draft. Each team will play approximately 8 games during the season – normally one game per week. Most games are played on Saturdays and Weeknights. Each team will also practice one night per week for one hour. The Intramural Program will run from April through June. Each player will receive a team shirt. The fee is $100 per player.
Facilities
Many of our Clinic and Junior League games & practices are held at the St. Edwards Softball field on Church grounds. Additionally, we also utilize several of the Syosset public schools, and Syosset Woodbury Park for the Intramural Programs.
Coaches
All coaches are volunteers from our community. New coaches are always needed & welcomed for teams at all levels. Coaching is a wonderful way to build relationships with the kids in our community. No prior coaching experience is necessary. Please consider coaching to help keep our program strong.
Coaches are required to complete a Background Check Form & attend Virtus Training.
