Ayer-Shirley Youth Football and Cheer was established in 2005 for the purpose of educating
young athletes in sport of football and cheer, meanwhile instructing the ideals of good
sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, scholarship and reverence, so that they may be
finer, stronger and happier youth who will grow to be responsible, healthy adults.
Our orsganization is run entirely by volunteers. All the members of the Board of Directors are
volunteers, and are not compensated for the hundreds of hours they work throughout the
year to keep this program going. All our coaches and seasonal staff are also volunteers who
put in many hours on and off the practice fields each season.
The program is funded through registration fees, game admission fees, sponsors, and
fundraisers. All funds are put back into the program to pay expenses and make
improvements. Some of the expenses we incur each year include: repair and/or replacement
of equipment and uniforms, field usage fees, insurance, membership dues, background
checks for staff, merchandise for resale, referees, end-of-year participant trophies, and other
miscellaneous administrative expenses.
Youth Tackle Football & Cheer Program Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Ayer/Shirley Football/Cheer Program to provide opportunities for
our youth to participate in an organized and supervised environment. The primary focus is to
teach the fundamentals of football and cheerleading with an emphasis on sportsmanship,
education, safety, and fun for all participants. We accomplish our mission by continually
striving to become better coaches, parents, and fans.
