Brookline Adult Hockey League House Rules

 

 

TEAMS – Rosters and League fees need submitted before your THIRD GAME.  You cannot add a player after that.  However, teams can use substitute goalies a maximum of two times during the REGULAR season (or if opponent is ok with it).  No substitutions allowed in the playoffs.  A player must play in five (5) games to qualify to play in the playoffs.  Players must be at least 16 years old (or turn 16 during the season) to play.  Any player under 18 must wear full face cage/shield, unless parent/guardian signs Liability Release.


LEAVING BENCH DURING ALTERCATION – If anybody leaves the bench, even one step, during ANY type of altercation, their team will be given a LOSS regardless of score.


3RD MAN IN – If you are 3rd man in, in an altercation, it’s an automatic GAME MISCONDUCT and you will be asked to leave.  If you are pulling your own player away, that is NOT 3rd Man In.   This is at the referee’s discretion.


FIGHTING – Anybody throwing a SINGLE PUNCH will receive a suspension. There will be zero tolerance on this matter. Player(s) fighting will receive a major penalty, game misconduct and a minimum 3 game suspension up to entire season. If


(Those protecting themselves from fighting will be disciplined on a case-by-case matter thru the Head of Officiating, after reviewing it with the Referees.)


HIGH STICK – A player CAN raise stick above shoulders.  However, a penalty will be assessed if contact is made with opponent above THE OPPONENT’S shoulder. 


If a ball is played by a high stick, play will continue unless any player from offending team touches first.  That offense will result in a DEEP face off in offending team’s zone.


DELAY OF GAME (GRABBING BALL) – A player CAN grab the ball and place on the ground.  A referee can assess a 1 minute minor if he feels the player carried the ball too long. 


LOB RULE – This rule is NOT enforced.


STARTING GAME –At 5 minutes past start time, delay of game penalty will be given. At 10 minutes past start time, at 2nd delay of game will be given. At 15 minutes past the start of the game, it is a forfeit, and forfeit fee will be required!!!! We will not run the clock for any of the periods.


FORFEIT FEE – A $40 forfeit fee will be applied to any team that does not give at least 24 hour notice of a forfeit.   Any team that owes a forfeit fee, cannot play their next game until paid.


SCHEDULE – Please keep change requests at a minimum, once the schedule is released.  It’s ok to play without a full roster!


MAJOR / STICK RELATED PENALTIES – These types of penalties receive an automatic 3 game suspension or more. This will be determined after review by the Head of Officiating.


PENALTY LIMIT – Three penalties in a period or four penalties in a game results in the player being kicked out for the game. 


CODE OF CONDUCT – Abusive behavior, threatening of any player, spectator, coach, ref or anyone else will NOT be tolerated and any person(s) will be asked to leave the property immediately.


STOPPING GAME – Referees have the authority to halt play at any time once the game is underway and award a win to either team regardless of the score. This will be done if it is determined that either team is being disruptive to the orderly course of the game.


TOBACCO PRODUCTS – Under no circumstances are ANY tobacco products allowed on dek or in spectator areas.  This is a city park and they are restricted. 


GAME BALLS Each team is to supply (3) balls each prior to the game starting. Any balls remaining will go to the Visitors first then the Home team.  Balls can be purchased:  $3 each, 4 for $10, 10 for $20.


END OF GAME – Shootouts are used in regular season.  3 shooters to start, then 1 at a time.  Must go through entire roster.  Playoffs will be 5 Minute running clock OT, then shootout.  Championship games will be 10 minute running clock OT, then shootout.


MERCY RULE – Once a team is up by 6, clock will run.  Will go back to stop clock if game gets back within 4 goal differential.
